“Stop and enjoy”
Reviewed 22 July 2014

This has a lovely calm and elegant feel, slightly aging but perhaps even more attractive as a result. Great view from the garden, perfect place to shelter inside if it is raining (we had both sun and rain). Friendly, relaxed service.

“Fine dining in a lovely old home.”
Reviewed 30 May 2014

The food at this restaurant is excellent. We ate there twice and both times had excellent meals and a lot of fun talking with the staff and other customers. We also enjoyed the fireplace when is got a little chilly. Everything we ate was excellent. Good choices on the menu with homemade seafood chowder that we couldn't resist. Highly recommended.

“Good food, great ambience, and excellent service”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Lovely place to have dinner. Great ambience, good food, and reasonable prices. My only quibble would be that they only had one vegetarian main dish, but that wasn't a huge problem for me (unless you hate chickpeas). The woman who was serving us seemed to be the only wait staff there, but she was really efficient and friendly. She even got out a box of toys for our 19 month old son which greatly reduced the chances of him demolishing the place during dinner, especially the nice local art work that was on display in the restaurant. Definitely recommended.

“Wonderful Food !”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

We loved the food, be it the scones, the soup, or the main dishes, they are all very good with reasonable price ! The old house with a fireplace and a garden gives you a warm feeling at home. We could stay the whole afternoon there just relaxing ! The owner/chef are friendly and helpful !

“NZ South Island Trip May 2014”
Reviewed 25 May 2014

Old world charm and very good food.
It was getting into the low season so not many in the restaurant so had a chance to talk with the owner a little.
Would think that lunch on a sunny day would be great.
