I eat with my eyes and pay a great deal of attention to cutlery and glasses. Well presented food and good wine in nice glasses is usually top of my list when recommending a restaurant. Grenache restaurant ticks all the boxes for me. The taster menu was a real treat for me and we thoroughly enjoyed it. I'm not usually a merlot drinker but they stock a perfect one to accompany red meats and it's fabulous.
The staff are really friendly and explain in detail what's being served. If they are unsure about an ingredient they ask the chef. Nothing is too much trouble.
A really nice touch is the chef, Mike, coming out at the end of the night and talking to the customers to get feedback. How best to know that you're running a successful eatery than to actually ask personally.
You must reserve as it's always busy. Go early and have a drink upstairs in the lounge bar. It really sets the meal off nicely. You aren't rushed in any event but it has a nice feel to it.
If there's anything you don't like just let the staff know and Mike will work round you.
