      We visited in 2010!

It was a beautiful hotel, perfect. The activities were second to none. I cannot emphasise how amazing it was! The on site wildlife sanctuary was excellent, and seeing orangutans up close is amazing! Plenty of watersports and the best coastline I've ever witnessed. The pools were clean and lovely, and there was a tranquil atmosphere. The food was unique and tasty too! erfect for couples and families, lots for everyone to do! Only downfall is the location - the near by captial - Kota Kinabalu was very empty, and not much to do there! You really don't need to leave the resort though! Staff were wonderful and friendly, they took us on a trip to a local wildlife park to see the probiscus monkeys!

Room Tip: Rainforest view rooms are beautiful.

we stayed at this hotel almost 12 months ago but still feel the need to write this review.

We cannot praise this hotel enough. We have stayed at a number of five star establishments over the last few years and my stay at the Rasa Ria stands out. We stayed in an Ocean View Room, with the bath tub on the balcony, which I would advise is worth the extra expense.

The food and drinks are expensive but that is to be expected so a bit of forward planning on expenses can always take the sting out.

Our main reason for booking this resort was the orangatan experience, which was a definate highlight of a three week trip across Malaysia and Singapore.

What was not expected was the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. They could not do enough for you and made you feel welcome everywhere you went. This was managers right down to ground keeping staff. I still fondly remember the cleaner rushing over to join the line of people waving goodbye when we left.

We did deliberate on the distance of this hotel from town when we booked but we are very happy we chose to stay here and would recommend the hotel to anyone going to Kota kinabalu.

Just got back from a weeks stay at Rasa Ria.
Hotel - although 45 mins from airport, location is stunning. Superb sunsets. Great to see organutans.
Rooms - Garden view with seaview is a must. Viewed ocean wing & not a lot of difference.
Food - various restaurants to choose from. Our favourite was Nann & Tepi. Superb choice & quality. Probably the best food ever had a hotel. One word of warning when it's school holidays can become very busy. Advise would be to book outside of these times.
Staff - all very helpful & friendly in particular Suryana in the Coffee Lounge restaurant. We even had farewell song sung to us by the staff on our last night.
Sea - no idea why people have advised about sand fly on beach. We didn't see any. A few mossies at sunset.
Overall - fantastic stay & would def recommend. Hope to go back very soon.

We originally booked the Garden View Room but when we were doing the check in the receptionist offered us to pay a bit more and get the Ocean View Room, we asked to see both. First we saw the Garden View Room, was nice and had everything we need it but when they showed us the Ocean View Room we fell in love!! with a very large balcony that includes a big hot tub enough to fit my 1.94m tall husband and myself very comfortably and a very spacious room and bathroom we took it!!! And we didn't regret it for a bit!! it also gives you access to a private pool and a much nicer buffet that included a la carte options and champagne!

But the best part of our vacation was the staff!!! Their attention to detail was unbelievable!! They always had a smile in their face and were always helpful and kind!

The hotel is beautiful and located at a sandy beach next to the “jungle”, and only 40 min drive from the airport.

The food is GREAT! And inexpensive! And with lots of options!

It was “hands down” one of the best vacation ever!! So relaxing!! And we didn’t even had to leave the premises during the 4 days we were there because we had everything we needed!

We can’t wait to go back!

Room Tip: Go for the Ocean View Rooms, (although you cannot see the ocean from the first 2 floors, it is worth every cent! Especially if you are on a romantic trip, you won't want to leave the room!)

We stayed in a Premier Ocean room at the Rasa Ria and it was magical!!! We were out on Honeymoon where we enjoyed some trekking in Malaysian Borneo before heading to the Rasa Ria for 5 incredible days of luxury.
The room we had was incredible, a big room with an amazing bathroom, and outdoor decking area with an outdoor spa and sunbed. The service was probably the best my wife and i have ever experienced anywhere in the world, the attention to detail was unparalleled. You really felt like a vip being an ocean premier wing guest with lots of benefits, including your own pool area, with lovely canapes each afternoon, the use of the Coast restaurant for your morning breakfast, complimentary wifi and just that extra exclusive feel. Recommend this hotel to anyone, and particularity people who enjoy great customer care. The tepanyaki restaurant was great, and you must try the candlelit dinners on the beach a real treat, but beware of the mosquito's!
