Had an amazing week at the Rasa Ria resort. I stayed in the Garden Wing, with a room looking over the sea. Room was nice and quiet, absolutely huge, comfortable and very clean. Shame there was no bath tub, but shower was powerful and bathroom had every amenity you could want. Nice to have a separate level as a sitting room. Would have been useful to have had a bit more information in the room about the resort, activities etc, although there was a programme on the tv which seemed to give you all the info you may need.

Resort itself is beautiful. Grounds are amazing, with beach bordered by forest. Beach was very quiet when I was there. Sometimes felt like being on a desert island! Pool was busier, with lots of families, but no rowdiness and not overly disturbing. Frankly looked like good fun for kids, with water slide and everything! Plenty of loungers for people to use, and staff came round with iced water, frozen grapes and cool towels during the day. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Really felt at home.

Re food, I don't think I eat enough to do justice to the buffets, but a good selection of food and what I had was tasty. Preferred ordering a la carte and going for Malay food, which was excellent. Didn't drink alcohol whilst I was there, but the fruit mocktails were delicious. Indian restaurant also good. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of choice (although a shame there was no jackfruit - my favourite!). Pool food was also good, although I think there may have been more choice if ordering at restaurants.

Undoubtedly highlight was the wildlife sanctuary. Absolutely amazing to be able to go and see the orangutans. Really was a treat. Also did nocturnal animal viewing, which was a bit dull (maybe would have been better if keeper had played more of a role telling us what animals were etc), and firefly watching (also brilliant, and a fun trip in a traditional boat).

Could not recommend this resort enough.

Overwhelming jungle beauty. Super beautiful wide beach (watch the sand fleas and jellies - part of wild Borneo - live with it! :-) Beautiful rooms. Smiling service and plenty of activities. Rasa Ria has something for everyone. They also have a great customer service manager in Khai. She'll set things right if you have issues! Rasa Ria two thumbs up!

Got home yesterday after a week at the Rasa Ria, stayed in the Garden Wing room 301 which a large balcony overlooking the sea. The room was excellent, spacious with lots of amenties. My only comment would be that the room service is very basic, just a tidying of the bed and clean towels, our coffee and sugar wasnt replenished, we had to ask more often than not. I am a very fussy eater so I wouldnt like to put a negative comment, the buffet food was plentyful, but unfortunately not alot of choice for me, as I say, I am fussy.. The staff are wonderful, especially the guys/girls that walk around all day asking guests if they want or need drinks etc, the girls bring ice water, water melon, ice lollies and cold towels whilst you are on your sunbeds. Unfortunately you do have to put your towels out early to get a sunbed or you will struggle to get one with an umbrella as it is very hot you will need some shade. The pool is great. The grounds are immaculate.. A couple of days we had badly stained beach towels, maybe the resort should filter them out... Sadly for us the entertainment in the lobby of a night wasnt that great and there isnt an alternative.. We went to the Orangu-tan sanctuary, rather disappointing they only had two there and they seemed to be more like pets... All in all this is a very nice resort, but not spectacular for us, I would agree that it lacked atmosphere, however what doesnt suit us doesnt mean that it wouldnt suit others.
