We originally booked a room in the Ocean Wing, and the resort let us know in advance that this section of the resort was under renovation during our stay, which I thought was great customer service. They clearly thought ahead about the possible inconvenience, especially as we were travelling with two small children. They gave us an upgrade to the Specialty Suite which was just the most amazing room with panoramic views of the beach. The beach is stunning with powdery white sand-- although watch out for the sand flies. The nature reserve was nice although a bit 'touristy' - there were too many people booked for the morning Orang Utang feeding session. Food at the breakfast buffet was fantastic, and the in-room dining menu offered many choices. The Kids' Club was great - quite rustic, with goats and chicken roaming in an enclosure next to the club. Staff were attentive and well-trained. I will most definitely be back.

Great way to end a holiday very relaxing as much or as little as you want to do.
I booked a Gazebo on the beach by Coast restaraunt for a romantic birthday dinner & Martina made sure that's exactly what I got !! wonderful service, Martina also organised the 3 piece band to come & sing me Happy Birthday & a delicious cake & a hand made card .....real fond memories. Thank you.
The garden wing was lovely & quite well away from the updating construction.

Room Tip: Garden Wing Executive Deluxe Magic !!

Plenty to do, space to relax and well laid out.
Clean spacious rooms and communal areas. The staff were all brilliant and nothing was ever too much trouble.
Pricing reasonable, especially during the happy hours!
The water sports available were fun, as were the bars, restaurants and the sundown ceremony. We did not visit the orang utans as we went across to Sepilok, but the fire fly trip is a great experience.
I cannot recommend this hotel enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in two different rooms in the Garden Wing, one very near the pool, restaurants and reception, the other was on the top floor at the far end of the wing. The latter was quieter and therefore worth requesting if that is what you seek, we preferred the former as it was nearer all the facilities and not too noisy. Unlike a lot of the previous reviews we could not see why many people felt that an Ocean View upgrade was necessary.

We stayed here for four nights specifically to see the Orang-utan on our trip to Malaysia. The hotel staff were great; so very polite and friendly. They greeted us on arrival and from then on in couldn't do enough. Frozen grapes mid afternoon, constant supply of iced water and cold flannels... It was lovely.
The sunset ritual is a must and the views of the sunset were awesome!
The orangutans were an experience not to be missed.. We spent a good hour watching them in a natural environment which was a memory for life.
Food was great and room service really surprised us- we even got a folding table and cloth! Overall an amazing place with amazing memories.. Highly recommended..

We have had the pleasure of traveling throughout Asia during the past 4 years. We have gone to Bali, Singapore, Thailand, Japan and Cambodia and this was definitely one of the best experiences yet!

We had a direct flight from Tokyo (a 5- 6 hr flight) and were picked up promptly at the airport by the hotel shuttle service. We arrived late at night but they were waiting for us with a quick check in and luggage delivery to our amazing suite! It was beyond anything we imagined since there are not good pictures online. It was HUGE!!! Every part of the room was amazing, but we especially loved the waterproof tv in the master bath area. Our wrap around balcony provided perfect views of the ocean and the jungle and the nightly turn down service made our stay that mush more enjoyable.

The activities available for kids were perfect for our 9 and 7 year old. We did the orangutan viewing and canopy walk on our first morning, followed by an afternoon filled with pool, beach and games. The staff constantly have fun activities for the kids in the pool area, including life guard training, lily pad hopping, etc. The pool itself was wonderful with areas for little ones, 2 slides, a deep area, and a regular depth area. We wake up early so we were always able to get front lounge chairs near the pool. Staff came around with cold water and towels and were always available for ordering food and drinks.

The 2nd day we tried out the Coast breakfast (it was probably the best restaurant buffet I have ever had) and then spent some more time on the beach and in the ocean, and then back to the pool. The kids dabbled with arts and crafts and then some kids club activities including a scavenger hunt, cookie making and a movie.

The 3rd day we put the kids in the kids club almost all day while my husband and I golfed. They enjoyed the Jr Ranger program and were able to help feed and take care of the orphaned orangutans and other animals on the resort. We were gone for about 6 hours and when we went back for them…they did not want to leave!!! The staff was super attentive and the facilities were very clean. It was the best kids club in all of our vacations by far! A movie area, game room, library area, music area…something for all ages.

Our last day was more beach and pool and kids club. We had signed them up for the lighting ceremony at sunset through the kids club so our daughter was a princess and carried in on a carriage and our son was a warrior protector!
