Realy enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful at all times. The food was very good in the coffee terrace, the naan and around the pool. We were disappointed with our room we booked a deluxe sea view room, the view lovely but the room very in need of re decorating so much so that we wouldnt have said this hotel room was 5*.
The room was very clean and good it had an iron and ironing board. The hotel was very much isolated this did not bother us. The beach and pool area is beautiful realy lovely walking and jogging. The orangatan centre was very worth a visit the staff are very good and the orangatans are such characters, was lovely to see baby tenten. Just get the standard of the deluxe sea view re furbished and we would have said excellant!

Thank you for your feedback. Whilst I am pleased that you found the room well maintained I can appreciate your comments that the room is in need of some upgrading which will start in the near future. I am delighted you enjoyed visiting the Nature Reserve - Tenten is our latest addition to the Orangutans we have in our care - a lovely 6 month old orphan who has started the first steps of her rehabilitation. Thanks for your review, regards Timothy Wright

Recently spent 8 days here - in a Premier Ocean View room. It is wonderful - staff cannot do enough, rooms are fabulous and pool area is great. I would recommend spending the extra for the Ocean Wing - its worth it. The restaurants are great, although pricey compared to the region. The only down side to this hotel is the remote location - it is not easy to get out to other restaurants locally. But we will definitely be back!

Just back from 8 days staying at this great hotel in KK. It is definitely worth getting the Ocean Wing upgrade. Fantastic spacious room with double sized bath on the balcony, double sized sun-bed with loads of comfy cushions, this feels like real luxury. We tried all the main restaurants: Coast is quite stuffy and formal with a quite limited menu - bit disappointed that there was very limited seafood for one person (lots of options for 2 people sharing, but if your hubby doesn't lie seafood you are a bit stranded!), but overall the food was very good. And it is lovely and relaxed for breakfast.
Tepi-Laut also very good as is Naan, and the coffee terrace.

The service here is generally excellent with v friendly helpful staff.

Tips: if you go to see the orangutans wear a hat - there was no shade it was v hot at 11.30 in the morning on the viewing platform.
Don't bother with the Lepa Lepa boat trip - there is v little to see, just mangroves......
Wine is pretty expensive here, and not that great.
They had some pretty good night entertainment. Enchanted are OK, but at the weekend they had an excellent band playing swing and american song book type classics. There are also three mobile guitarists who pitch up around the resort and do some very passable achapelo stuff.
Enjoy!

Thank you for your comments. Good to learn you enjoyed your holiday with us - we have noted your feedback on the limited menu at Coast and will see how we can improve this. We also appreciate your sentiments on the price and variety of wine available in our restaurants - we try to offer a reasonable range at decent prices however you should be aware that alcohol is generally more expensive in Malaysia than in many countries in the Region. Thanks for staying with us, regards Timothy Wright

Like others we had read the reviews so arrived with high expectations of Rasa Ria and our view at the end of a 10 day stay is that they were met. The setting of the resort is beautiful and our sea view room in the garden wing showed it off at it's best, together with some lovely sunsets. Yes we agree the rooms could do with some updating which is currently happening but to be honest once you're settled in the appeal of the resort as a whole out weighs the drawbacks of the room. The service, as so many have said, is second to none and the staff do genuinely go that extra mile and are incredibly welcoming. The nature reserve is great and definitely worth a visit again with a very dedicated team looking after it.

There was plenty to do during the day with evenings a little limited as it was difficult to go out of the resort as it was so isolated. We did a trip to Kota Kinabula with a visit to the night market being a must. We ate from the stalls for a few ringgits for each dish eg. chicken wings or barbecued prawns on skewers. The prices at the resort were as you would expect but not outrageous as the buffets at about £20 a head were reasonable considering the food choice. The alcohol wasn't cheap particularly the wine but then it was also expensive in the supermarkets as most of it is imported from either Australia or Chile. We really enjoyed the food as a general comment and felt it was a high standard at all the restaurants and a very good choice overall.

Thank you very much for your review. We are pleased to learn you enjoyed your holiday and found the rooms in the Garden Wing comfortable. We also appreciate your positive comments on the price of food and drinks - we do aim to provide good value for money, despite being a little more expensive than the local restaurants and bars. Good welcome with relaxed check in with drink. We did not like attempt to upsell us without first showing the room we were in. Room was very good, spacious and very clean. Resort was well organised, beach a little disappointing having just come from Langkowi. The resort is some 35kms from Kota Kinabalu with nothing apart from the attached golf course in the immediate vicinity. The food was of high quality though a little bit expensive. The drinks were very high priced and the hotel exploited its isolation. We hired a car and drove around the sites without problem, the roads are fair and in general traffic light. The highlight of the trip was the Orangutan sanctuary which is part of the resort and this itself made the trip worthwhile. If you have your own transport there is a very good fish restaurant on the road towards KK

Many thanks for your feedback - delighted you enjoyed the Resort and its facilities. We are a little isolated which does mean that getting out and about takes a little more effort but it does mean that there are fewer people to disturb your enjoyment at the Resort. Your comments about the price of drinks is well noted - we are a little more expensive than the local cafes and bars but I believe we are reasonably priced when compared to other Resorts and Hotels in the region. Thanks again for your comments, regards Timothy Wright
