As someone has already mentioned, it's probably recommended best if you reach this hotel by car, but if you do stay at this hotel it probably won't be because you'll want to visit anywhere else nearby.

If you can, the spa complex is worth a day alone with every conceivable way you can think of to pamper yourself. No really, take the time to just walk around the spa complex if you don't have the time to relax...

We didn't play golf - it was January but took a short walk for a look.

The room was spacey and tastefully decorated matching the theme well - the attention to detail was impressive. Every contact with the staff was a pleasant experience without being overly contrived.

I think where we were mostly impressed was at the restaurant - impeccable service and faultless food.

It's a very nice change to be impressed by the reality as opposed to the impressions you get from websites. It was a very enjoyable experience.

We had the most wonderful 2 nights in this hotel. We were spoiled to death. On arrival, we got juice and our luggage was brought to the room. Very nice room, everything you need is there and more. Dinner was absolutely gorgeous, lots of different flavours but not overdone.
Later we received a nice bottle of french champagne in the room with chocolates. Breakfast was great as well.
Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Beautiful location.
There is really nothing one can fault the hotel on.

4 stars are not enough for this hotel. Nice places and nice hotels are everywhere, but at Friedrichsruhe the service is absolutely fantastic. Consider 2.5h for dining there and 150€/2 persons. Worth every cent! The kitchen is a 5* one, outstanding quality and best shrimps ever. Waiters guess your wishes from just looking at you and just make you feel welcomed. But consider jacket&tie for this restaurant, otherwise you'll feel unappropriated. The apartments are very tasteful, pure castle feeling. Highly recommended if willing to pay the price or feel like a king for a couple of days.

We returned to this hotel, having stayed one night six years ago and were not disappointed. This time we stayed for two nights on a long weekend break. The restaurant food and service are excellent; one of the best restaurants we have visited anywhere in Europe or North America. It's not cheap, but well worth the money. The scallop apetizer is recommended. The rooms in the palace have been redecorated this year and are very comfortable. Bathrooms equipped with robes, slippers, toiletries, scales and even a thermometer for the bath water!
Breakfast is served at the table, no buffet here! They have a little side table beside each dining table which they keep bringing plates of fruit, meat , cheese and breads. Cooked items were also available. My boiled egg was served in a little silver cup with a cloth "hat" to keep it warm!
The hotel has very well maintained grounds and is next to a small village. It is necessary to have a car to get there, since it is about 7 km from the nearest large town.
