We went to this restaurant but it is no longer open. Our guide was not sure if the owners moved or just closed down.

This is quite literally the most home cooked meal you will have on the island since the restaurant is also the chef's house.

I came to this restaurant because it was recommended by Anthony Bourdain. If you see the youtube clip, I was expecting to be served by the owner's children but I then realized the clip was from 6-7 years ago and now his kids our adults, lol. We had a laugh about this with the chef.

You have to get the creole chicken and the conch fritters. The chicken comes with vegetables, rice, potatoes and beans - it's a lot of food!. This is the best value considering dinner costs about $17 USD. A bottle of house wine costs only $13....crazy!

But most importantly, the chef/owner is so nice and personal. I highly recommend to make reservations because he does run out of food. We were very lucky that we had his last chicken. The couple that came next were not so fortunate. But this is a good thing because it shows all his food is fresh.

The restaurant is a little difficult to find. It is located in the French Quarter, right after the steep hill between Philipsburg and Orient Bay, right across a catholic church.

We ate here several years ago and it was horrid in every way. Canned peas, canned snails placed in used shells. I don't get the reviews on this one.

This place was on our list of things to do while we were there but we had a hard time getting there when they were open. First we went for lunch but they only service dinner. Then we went on a Sunday night but they closed on Sunday. We were finally able to get out there on our last night on the island. It is a great old house and Tony the owner who lives in the house is wonderful. Our meal was by far the best meal we had in our 10 day stay on the island. Our 2 and 3 year old boys that are very picky eaters even loved the food. You get great food, big portions, and a bit of Island history. Loved it!

It’s easy to drive by this place but you will miss not only a great meal but a memorable experience. There are two types of diners-those who have predetermined what great dining is and those with an open mind. For those willing to have a complete SXM experience-please read on. Very few tourist actually get to connect with the locals as they just drive right past their homes. Here is a chance to dine in someone’s home. Comfortable tables perched on a hill overlooking Orleans (not exactly a tourist hotspot in itself) the chef, owner, waiter and I assume dishwasher sees to your every need. The menu is simple. I had chicken creole, my wife had chicken with the peanut sauce and my daughter enjoyed tilapia. All were cooked SXM home style-in an actual home to boot! Now, for those squeamish about bathrooms-this ain’t the Ritz. The toilet doesn’t flush and it won’t pass the “wife” test. However, you will enjoy a fantastic meal and really experience SXM.
