Just come back from a wonderful trek in Puketi forest park with Helen guiding us for over 4 hours. We set off just before 6pm and hiked to the forest and then along the managed walkways through the bush. There was still plenty of light to see and photograph birds, the wonderful Kauri trees and the view as we climbed to the ridge line. After a refreshment break, we set off back, suitably equipped with head torches into the gathering gloom. The forest looked completely different at night with Weta's and Spiders appearing. A look in a stream showed trout, eels and crayfish whilst the more pork called in the distance.
A very special experience - many thanks to Helen guiding us and to Ian & Barbara for setting this up at very short notice.
