This small hotel is located in the picturesque small town of Lavin in eastern Switzerland. It is within an hour of the Austrian, Swiss and Italian border. St Moritz is half an hour away and there are several family ski resorts nearby.
The village of Lavin retains it's original architecture. It looks old but truly is old. There are a few hotels and restaurants but generally, as is typically Swiss, they are happy to keep it that way.
The Hotel Restorant Crusch Alba appears to be a renovated church. The renovation is very modern. It is clean, comfortable and warm.
There is a fantastic bar, stubl, dining room and a major breakfast hall. The food is excellent and reasonably priced.
Our room was very clean with comfortable beds and fairly simple but functional bathrooms. We were in the attic.
There is no elevator and we were on the third or was is fourth floor. We managed.
Monica was our host and ready to help with just about anything. Breakfast is included in the large dining room and consists of a traditional type of Swiss breakfast: fresh fruit, cereal, muesli, cheeses, ham, salami, croissants, breads - you know what I mean.
More on geography: St Anton, Cortina, Garmisch Partenkirchen are also within driving distance. The car train station is only fifteen minutes away. We drove to Tasch (near Zermatt) in six hours. This included two car trains and one speeding fine. Xernez is the nearest large town and has most facilities such as supermarkets, ski and sport stores etc. St Moritz is about an hour away and has everything including an airport. The ski resort Skuol is nearby but we did not ski there.
I will be planning our next stay at Hotel Restorant Crusch Alba Lavin very soon!
