We were really lucky by booking only 24h in advance. A miracle for us! We could have stay a week there. All the rooms have a view on the sea and the house is surrounded by water. The owner, an old portuguese lady is lovely and her staff very kind. Our room didn't have fancy decoration. What makes this address unique is the view on the ocean, the sounds of the waves and the amazing breakfast! We will come back!

Room Tip: We have had room number 4. Small bathroom but lovely view

If you're looking for a beautiful location for a romantic get-away, this bed&breakfast is an amazing option. We stayed there at the end of June-early July for four nights. There's nothing as breathtaking as waking up to the view of the Atlantic (our room was on the ocean side and looking out the window was like looking out from the deck of a ship) and falling asleep to the sound of the waves. The owners (mother and daughter) were very friendly and helped us with arranging taxis and loaned us their sun-umbrellas. The room was very clean and the breakfast on the small terrace looking out on the beach was a great way to start a relaxing day.Having free wi-fi in our rooms was also a big plus for us. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We had number 4 which looked on the ocean side - they have the better views I think. But the rooms o...

Casa das Mares 2 is a very small hotel, the rooms are small, but clean and cosy, the bathroom is also a wee bit small, but the terrace is beautiful, the breakfast very nice, staff & owners are friendly and the view is amazing as is falling asleep to the sound of the waves crashing against the rocks down below. there's lovely beaches nearby, so who's going to spend much time in the room - perfect for what we wanted

My husband and I stayed at Casa das Mares II for 3 nights in July 2013. The Casa das Mares I was recommended to us by a B&B in Lisbon but there were no vacancies so we took a room that was available in II. Our first impressions were not good,we were escorted to our room by the daughter Paulino who was a very unfriendly individual and basically had no time to waste in small talk or even a courtesy greeting. The room we had for the first two nights (#3) had a breathtaking view of the Atlantic and a small fisherman's bay and beach. It unfortunately only had 2 twin beds - extremely hard and lumpy. Would not recommend this room for any money. For our last night we asked to be moved because a vacancy came up, it was room #2. The bed was a double and much more comfortable but there was a definite plumbing issue as the smell was unbearable by the time we checked out the following day. We were told when we went to pay on the last day that they only accepted cash so we were put in a position of rushing arund at the last minute to find an ATM machine. We tried to get directions from Pauline, who ended up in a small temper tantrum when her mom tried to draw us a map. The best part of this hotel is it's location and spectacular views. For the money, I think these 3 sisters need to invest a small amount of money in some of the basic creature comforts and show a little bit of friendliness towards their guests .... even a small smile would have gone a long way. Given some of the comments on this sight it is evident that the same issues have been ongoing. The small lady who does both the cleaning of the rooms and serving the breakfast was a breath of fresh air and we commend her for making us feel welcome. The breakfast was awesome but it would be difficult to get that wrong, and it was the same each of the 3 days.

We would not stay at this place again!

Room Tip: Would suggest trying Casa das Mares I or II or looking elsewhere along the coast as there seems to b...

My wife, daughter (Adult) and I stayed here for two nights. When booked a room with three beds but were given two rooms at no additional charge as the larger room had a plumbing problem. The room and bathroom were clean and Maria and her daughter were both friendly. The place is a bit isolated so a car it needed if you want to go to Peniche, you can walk but it takes a fair while. However if you just want to chill out for a few days then there are restaurants in Baleal plus surf hire, lessons etc. The breakfast was simple but adequate and the coffee was good.

This location is great with views out to sea and back over Baleal. It's only a short walk over to the bars and restaurants. Accommodation is no frills but clean and tidy. Maria and her two helpers are very friendly and nothing is to much trouble. Lovely breakfast served inside or on the small terrace weather permitting. Good value non pretentious place to stay.

Room Tip: The front room looking down over the fisher mans boats is great for watching them and the surfers.

We were there a while ago with our children. Cosy place, very nice hosts. Excellent views - to ocean or gulf, where fisherman's come in mornings. If you love people more than status and five star comfort- go there. We had luggage problems that we would not solve without the help of the owners. They were very kind and gave great recommendations on restaurants as well.
