This is my 1st surf camp (hopefully first of many;) and the experience was amazing. Baleal camp location is perfect, hostel accommodation far beyond expectations - very clean and cozy, just 7-10 min from the beach (house #2). All staff at Baleal surf camp - surf instructors, managers, bartenders - professional and passionate about what they do. Lots of attention to every detail, heaps of fun, great menu at Bar de Bruno. When you are in the camp you find yourself immersed in the surfing culture and make friends from all over the world instantly. Will come back soon to catch more waves!))) Ready to share more info in English or Russian/Ukrainian.

In summary: the value of having someone know the currents and tides and choose good spots to give you countless repetitions is worth the price alone.

Steve and Felippe were the instructors. Since it was pretty much the offseason (late November) it was a small class which was nice. Was able to stand up quite a few times and learned a lot of the basics. I knew nothing about surfing going into the class. Some of the more advanced students were able to catch some bigger waves and use normal boards, not the foam boards. The instruction is good, but as many people know nothing is as good as repetitions. Steve and Felippe would go out earlier in the morning to survey the area and choose awesome spots that gave us endless opportunities at waves every day. We went out twice a day and spent most of the time in the water, which is what you'd want.

In addition Steve and Felippe gave us a cool tour of the area and were really good at giving just general advice on surfing. We had an amazingly good group dinner at Tasca do Joel where we ate Javali. It was great. They gave me some tips on Portuguese grammar, which was nice to be able to practice. All in all they're two really cool guys that are very passionate not only about surfing but about helping members of the class. If you can't get along with them then something is probably wrong with you.

The accommodations at the hostel were solid, but not spectacular. Not that it matters since most of the time you were surfing anyway. The ladies that ran the place were really nice as well. Had some good chats with a lot of the other classmates.

Just returned from Baleal where we had lots of surf lessons with the Baleal team. Really great people who looked after us like friends. The teaching was spot on and they couldn't do enough for us. All the guys are really genuine with a real passion for surfing and the area. Big thanks to Steven (who is the only person we know who looks good in a gimp hat!), Ladis (seriously quick pop ups!) Miguel, Roman and Alex. The club house is a great place to chill out with fantastic views of the surf and good food and drinks. We'll be back in October!

Perfection. Everything about this place is perfect. Baleal is a wonderful location for surfing due to its geographical conformation which always assure you the perfect spots depending of the weather conditions. The Surf Camp is probably one of the most confortable and friendly places I've ever been to...I really felt at home. The staff is very kind and helpful. The surf lessons are well organised with a lot of theoretical aspects, water practice and video correction, which has proven to be very helpful. But what really makes the difference are the instructors: they are amazing people, super prepared and very very friendly. I would definitely recommend this place.
