We wanted to extend our stay in Pembroke for 1 night and managed to get a booking here for a one night bed and breakfast (no activities). I can see how this would be a great break for city dwellers/hen or stag parties to get some countryside adventure, but it was a little disappointing as a 5 star rated Eco lodge for independent travellers.
There were modern wet room type showers, and the double room was nice with bed on a mezannine level. However, there were a few things that meant this place didn't quite match up to 5 stars. The doors in the bedroom block are very noisy (in desperate need of some oil) and the walls are paper thin- you can hear the conversations next door so sleep quality isn't great. The breakfast was very disappointing and could hardly be called a full cooked "Welsh" breakfast. It was self service bacon, eggs, beans, dry, stale toast and crumpets and was almost gone by 8:30am (supposed to be available 8-9am). Even having a separate toaster for people to make fresh toast would be better. There are no self catering facilities and the £15 dinner charge for a mass produced curry and rice was a bit steep so we went to a nearby pub.
Staff were cheerful but quite confused when we explained we were only staying one night and we had to ask for the key to lock our room.
At £80 a night it is very expensive, especially given we'd experienced a far superior stay for less than half the price just a few miles up the coast in Trefin.
