Owner description: The Big Bear Alpine Zoo is a rehabilitation facility offering injured, orphaned and imprinted wild animals a safe haven; temporarily while they heal or permanently as they are unable to survive on their own.We are extremely proud that 90% of all the animals brought to us for rehabilitation are successfully released back into their native environment. Those that remain with us on exhibit are either too injured or have been imprinted by humans and can not be released back into the wild to care for themselves.

“Nice small zoo”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

This is a nice small zoo and fun thing for kids to do in Big Bear. Lots of bears, raccoons and other 'mountain' animals. Their cages are very small which was sad. Looking forward to when they build their bigger zoo and more space for their animals to roam.

“A Sanctuary for animals with issues”
Reviewed 6 August 2014

Please support this zoo by visiting. It's sad to see some of the animals but if they couldn't be cared for here they might be euthanized. It is not a regular zoo. Great way to spend a day with kids and to teach them about wildlife.

“Better than Expected”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

This is a nice little zoo with a better than expected collection of animals which are (for the most part) kept in fairly good enclosures. I look forward to them breaking ground on their new location and I hope the enclosures a bigger and better for those animals that are currently in cages. The staff seemed to do a good job of caring for the animals which all appeared to be well fed and healthy

“Interaction with mountain animals”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

We enjoyed our time with the animals at this unique alpine zoo. My children stayed until closing. They absolutely loved it. I have never seen so many caring people as they took care of these rescued wild animals.
