“Great picnic spot”

Just as all of the other "parks" heading up the 18 this one is great for picnics. It has the added value of boulders for the kids to climb on. It would be nice if the park was gated since my 2 year old son is unpredictable and we had to hover over him with the highway at the edge of the park. We did have a nice time eating lunch, letting kids play on the rocks and enjoying the view. It is very crowded though.

We stopped by this place before the Big Bear, since the scenery is too catchy after you drove 30 miles doing nothing but climbing the mountain. It's a small lake, but got everything she needs to attract eyeballs. With snow around, I think it's just a mini version of the big bear and really good to take pictures. But the downside of it is since it's winter, part of the lake has frozen to ice, you couldn't boating on it but a lot of ducks are on it, pretty cute and funny scene.

The park has made viewing Boulder Bay much easier as you don't have to pull over and find a spot to park to enjoy the view. The city has apparently decided to let the brush on the side of the road grow to extreme heights so you cant really see much from the road. Being able to park and walk around is a great way to see the bay and take pictures.

I live in Big Bear Lake in the Boulder Bay Area and this little park is where sunsets are msgnificent, you can fish off the dock or just sit on a bench overlooking the boulders in the bay. There's also a large gazebo with picnic tables under it. Native plant landscaping is beautiful in spring and summer, gorgeous leaves of multicolored in fall and pure white snow on massive boulders in winter.

The boulders are certainly a big part in and near the park, which is right off the road into the Big Bear Lake region. You can fish, kayak, walk, run or just take pictures like we did - very scenic all along the park which hugs the bay.
