Avaleen Lodge Motor Inn

Reviewed 22 April 2013

After having a bad experience with accommodation else where in town, the fantastic staff at Avaleen Lodge were able to provide us with last minute accommodation at 1am!
The room was fantastic, we all slept comfortably, we were also given a late check out, which was greatly appreciated as we were in Nowra for a funeral, and had the extra time to get ready.
Could not be more appreciative of the staff! Excellent! Would defiantly stay again!

This was a good option for an overnight stay in nowra for work. It was close to everything. The accom was spotless and modern ( I'm guessing recently refurbished) and we were welcomed and check in was effortless. A no hassle stay that met all needs. Just a note to the light sleepers out there, it is on a main road and trucks pass by all night so the accom won't work for everyone.

We were in Nowra for a wedding and chose the Avaleen because it was #1 on Tripadvisor. The exterior shots were classic motor inn style, so our expectations were low. But the decor was very tasteful and facilities in the room were a very pleasant surprise.

Even though it was on the highway, we didn't hear any road noise from the room.

Pity about the blond brick exterior - which doesn't do it justice.

We stayed at the Avaleen motor inn when we came to Nowra for the red hot summer tour.
The rooms were lovely, very clean and comfortable and the owners and staff were very friendly.
It must be good Ian Moss is in the room next door!

We are a couple in our thirdies and stayed 2 nights at the Avaleen Lodge Motor Inn during the 2012 Holidays during a road trip down the coast. We stayed in a king-size room (room 6).

Our room had clearly been renovated recently and had a very modern touch to it. It was spacious with a king-size bed, sofa and small kitchen table with two chairs, and plenty of space to move around. Not to mention that our room and bathroom was spotless. The motor inn also offers wi-fi at no extra charge which is key for us when we travel.

Our hosts were also very friendly. We were very well advised on our first night on dining options in the area. The next day, as we were jumping in our car to explore the area for the day, our host came up to us and suggested a few sights for the day.

In terms of "bang for your buck", this motor inn is definitely a great value. We would definitely recommend it.

This was the second time I've stayed at Avaleen, and am about to book the next visit.
It's a great little motel, with friendly and non-pushy service, and although not in a stunning environment, its convenient location is ideal, and there is really minimal road noise... you certainly couldn't ask for or expect more for the price.
Having stayed in both the Queen room and 2 bedroom unit, I'm confident in saying that the rooms are spacious and comfortable, kept quite modern and very clean, and bathrooms more than adequate!
I recommend Avaleen to any and all, and has become my first choice in the area.

This is a nice place to stay. It is welcoming and centrally located for touring, not so good if you are on a coach tour like us. However, the Big M is right opposite, and milk is supplied on request. Our room was spacious. It had a king bed which was very comfortable and provided a good sleep for our two nights' stay. The window air conditioner was not used but is there if the room gets too hot. The day temperature was 28 degrees, but night time a mild 15. The room comprised the typical pattern of a bedroom, attached bathroom and a narrow space used as a kitchen. There was free wi-fi. Breakfasts are only $A10, and the minibar prices are lower than you will find in many shops. I liked the bathroom. The shower had a soft spray head. Hot water was there in plenty, although the two tap mixing system sometimes flowed hot and cold. The supply of tea and milk is maintained, your valuables are looked after while you are out, you are informed of the neighbouring shift workers who need their sleep…. That's nice.

There was a plasma tv, a kettle for heating water, a toaster, an ironing board and iron, an easy chair, case rest, table and chairs - all good quality. Apart from drawers, there wasn't a lot of storage. There was no safe, no microwave, no plates, no cutlery. You have to ask for them. No problem, except for the safe.

The much vaunted salt water heated swimming pool was dirty, with leaves and a suspicious snake-like stick on the bottom. The salt water was refreshing, though. It provided us with a nice cooling swim. I guess out of high season you have to ask for the pool bottom to be cleaned. I am sure, given warning, they would have done so: we just assumed a heated pool would be kept ready for travelling swimmers. Anyway, you don't swim on the bottom! Don't be put off: the water was kept clean and a few leaves never hurt anyone.

Everything else is excellent, especially the management. Robyn and Guy run the establishment themselves. They are obliging and genuinely nice people. Guy showed us twice how to manage the Austar and local tv channels. They keep the property immaculate.Their room cleanliness is as good as you will find. The rates are reasonable - you will be hard pressed to find better value for your money.

Room Tip: The apartments are good with children or friends sharing.
