“Delicious food and wonderful service”
Reviewed 21 May 2013

Dined there last Saturday night with family and had a great night. Five of us ordered Banquet 1 ($42 pp) and enjoyed a very varied meal. Dips, bread, saganaki, grilled octopus, white bait followed by Greek salad and seafood platter incorporating prawns, fish, calamari then more salad with a meat platter - lamb, chicken & beef skewers, rissoles. The quality of the food was excellent - hot, well cooked and seasoned. The whitebait and calamari were superb. We thought the food was better than what we have had in Greece.

Even though the restaurant was full the service was very friendly and attentive, nothing was too much trouble. A belly dancer also added to the enjoyment of the night.

It is noisy but that's the Greek way. The management is in the process of redecorating but hope it retains its homely warm feeling.

Would we return - most definitely.

“Favourite Greek restaurant”
Reviewed 27 February 2013 via mobile

Love going here, very casual and relaxed atmosphere. Broad variety menu, good quality fare and plentiful servings. Platters are a must to share and the white bait is second to none!

“Friendly service, great food”
Reviewed 19 December 2012

The decor is somewhat bland, but it excels with the food. The menu includes all the usual Greek offerings and more. You are able to do the banquets or order individual dishes. We started with Saganaki and BBQ grilled octopus and a hot and spicy capsicum and feta dip. There is also a specials board which included Moussaka which I enjoyed. Others had the Blue Eye (very good), Gyros, Souvlaki and lamb cutlets. The serves are generous, the service is friendly and attentive. At dessert, our host brought us a selection of his usual offerings in bite size pieces and a complimentary dish of Ekmeh - a lovely creamy custard with filo, walnuts and cinnamon. Wine is BYO. Would recommend.

“Good meal at a local restaurant”
Reviewed 26 October 2012

We ate at this restaurant on a recent visit to Melbourne, Australia. We arrived early since we had a large party with children included. We had appetizers with the meal, and they were delicious. We then had several different entrees, mostly in the seafood arena. The calamari was a particular favorite. The seafood platter had plenty of food on it, but was just average. One of our party had a lamb dish and that was very tasty. The service was just average. The waiter we had seemed to have some difficulty with English and could not explain the dishes to us, but he did get our order correct. The cost of the meal for eight of us, which included two children was $277 AUD. We were there on a Saturday night, and from the crowd that gathered before we left, this is a popular place.

“Renamed Doncaster Greek Tavern”
Reviewed 5 September 2012

Dined here on a quiet Tuesday night. The food was excellent, with the char grilled calamari being the standout for me. Pretty standard fare for a suburban Greek restaurant, but it was very well prepared and I experienced none of the service issues raised by other reviewers. This may be because the place is under new management now, or it may have been because it wasn't exactly a busy night. Not the best value for money it has to be said, with calamari, lamb and salad amounting to $60 with no drinks included, but I can't fault the quality.
