Sopley Lake Yurt Camp

We thoroughly enjoyed our 2-day stay at Dragon Yurt. The surroundings are stunning and the facilities are excellent! We found everything we needed for a perfect short break. All we needed to bring was food. It was lovely to be able to cook in the open air and the kids loved running around. We will be back next year!

What a brilliant glamping experience 1st September in Dragon Yurt 2.
We loved it and everything about it. Everything had been thought of.
We loved the setting so much (helped by the weather) The lake is beautiful and the sunsets were amazing. The inside of the yurt was sumptious (is that a word?!) and it was such a pleasure to have comfy beds!
We loved using the wood burner to cosy up the yurt while we sat round the camp fire toasting marshmallows.
The boys loved the hammock and the composting loo best apparently! We will definitely be back. It was an experience we will never forget and certainly beats standard camping!

Thoroughly recommend! Two firsts achieved- youngest got on a bike without stabilisers and did not end up in the lake. Eldest caught his first fish. Dad got bites within 3 seconds ... a PB! We took a waspinator which was a success- they still appeared but did not hang around! We made mistake of lighting the stove "for atmosphere" seated all night- now tempted to come back in midwinter. Great fun hanging out at the beach watching the British public do it's "thing". Fantastic three night break would stay longer and bring dogs net time!

What a beautiful place. Everything has been thought of at Forest yurts so that you can have a wonderful break with a bit of luxury whilst waking up to birdsong and the sounds of nature. The yurts are comfortable and we loved the log burner which made it cosy and nice and toasty. We went for a hen party but the camp would be perfect for families with young children too. I can't wait to take my children when they are a bit older. One of the things that amazed me the most was the provision of such a fantastic shower with some strength and hot water!
The staff at Forest Yurts were incredibly kind and helpful when I left something in the yurt and even posted it back to me, for which I was very grateful. Thank you!

We stayed with our two grandchildren aged 6 and 10 for 3 nights which we felt was enough, we were given clear instructions on how to find the site before we arrived, keys are left for you. FY thought of everything, right down to the corkscrew. On arriving at the site, we were amazed at how beautiful the yurt was, we stayed in Dragon Yurt, it was just like the photos on the website - large, beautifully furnished with a very comfortable double bed, 2 single futons plus seating, bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers, a wood burner supplied with wood, torches, lanterns and matches, bedding and towels, shower gel, loo roll, supply of teabags, coffee, sugar, milks and even biscuits, nothing was overlooked.

Outside, we had a hammock, fire pit. There is enough wood for a decent camp fire every evening - the children enjoyed toasting marshmallows on the fire and making toast. there is a cooking station with a BBQ, 2 ring gas hob, pots and pans, gazebo with a table and chairs, a gas operated shower with hot water and a compost toilet, which surprisingly was fine, no smells! Although there are other yurts on the site , they are far away enough to give you privacy but close enough to know that you are not alone, the only downside is when the neighbours bring their dog and can't control it or don't clear up after it. The lake is just behind some trees, the grandchildren enjoyed fishing and watching the jumping fish! we also had to have a walk around the lake everyday. (only 15 - 20 mins).
Overall it was an amazing experience, we would go back again but on our own to appreciate the peace.

Room Tip: The Yurts are very spacious, with natural light shining through the rooftop.

My daughter (8) and I stayed in the Dragon Yurt at Sopley for 4 nights. From the time we booked, we were provided with all the information we needed to locate the campsite, the keys, local shops, food and pick your own fields. On arriving at the site, we were amazed at the yurt we stayed in - large, beautifully furnished with a very comfortable double bed, 2 single beds plus seating, bedside cabinets, a chest of drawers, a wood burner and amazing decoration - the list goes on - needless to say, we wanted for nothing.

Outside, we had a hammock, fire pit, cooking station with a BBQ, 2 ring gas hob, gazebo with a table and chairs, a shower with hot water and a toilet. Although there are other yurts on the site , they are far away enough to give you privacy but close enough to know that you are not alone. The lake which is a stone's throw away from the yurt is full of Carp provides a picturesque view and a nice walk to the pick your own fields.

I could go on about our experience, but I won't - I will say this - it was a wonderful one, the owners were very friendly and helpful and for someone that has never been camping I would recommend glamping at Sopley over renting a holiday cottage to anyone who wants to experience the outdoors without the hassle of having to bring your own everything, because we had everything - even bedding, towels, soap, coal for the BBQ, enough wood for a decent camp fire every evening - we just turned up with clothing and bought what food we wanted - easy!!!
