We are regular visitors to our local. What a treat to have such a great pub in walking distance! The lunches and evening meals have quality local ingredients and seasonal choices. William and Katrina are always so welcoming. Highly recommended.

The Allanton Inn was recommended to us by my niece, who lives in Edinburgh, and my sister, who have both visited. We visited as a couple for (sadly) just one night in April and my niece and sister were right. It's terrific!
I have to say that Will and Katrina have the place running like a well oiled machine - they and their staff are friendly and attentive, the rooms are beautifully decorated, very comfortable and every detail you could wish for has been provided. The toiletries are luscious - no you can't take them with you but so what, if you have the use of such top quality shower accessories?
We also loved the layout of the place. It's a real traditional country inn and we like the way the bar is a defined area, separate to the dining rooms. It's cosy, the beer's good, the food is just wonderful! What more could you want? As we had spent the previous two nights in "a Berwick hotel", the Allanton Inn came as a revelation to us!

Room Tip: We had a room at the back, overlooking the garden, but I doubt that anyone's sleep would be dist...

Having visited Berwick and hoping to find a place to eat with good food, ambiance and charm I'm afraid to say sadly lacking in central Berwick we drove out looking for that special place! For miles it seemed until spotting a notice on the main rod we did a U turn and arrived just after 2pm on a midweek day on a cold and misty day, perhaps they had stopped serving lunch?? We needn't have worried! The Inn is onthe main street of a small village with plenty of parking outside, no dogs allowed so sadly ours stayed in the car.

inside the decor is fresh and welcoming, interesting pictures and sculpture on the walls and a friendly and welcoming face at the Bar. we noticed several other customers eating lunch in the restaurant adjacent to the Bar. Luckily lunch was ON! Nice table, clean cutlery, napkins and bread duly arrived. The menu mixes the traditional with the new and it was hard to choose! we had Dover sole (on the bone) with prawns, with samphire and a steak burger with blue cheese, bacon with salad. the side order of chips was delicious!! I induldged ina dessert of white chocolate cheesecake and balckcurrent compote - absolutely delicious and very filling!! Overall the food was very good!!Subtle background music and attentive service.

In summer it must be a buzzing place as you can sit outiside and admire the view. They have 6 bedrooms ensuite plus a family room and judging from earlier comments from guests it seems to be a ideal place from which to explore the area.

We will definitely return, but booking advisable during summer months and weekends.

Room Tip: Only reviewed the restaurant.

Just returned from our 5th weekend break at the Allanton Inn and it certainly won't be our last! The Inn is located in the small village of Allanton and it provides the ideal base for exploring the lovely Scottish Borders and Northumberland. There are some great walks on the doorstep and places of interest to visit even if you do not want to venture very far.
William, Katrina and their team have created the perfect blend of warm hospitality, immaculate accommodation and fantastic food. This place is ideal for a weekend away (or even longer) to re-charge your batteries for couples, families or friends and I would imagine it would be a great place to stay as a solo traveller as everyone is so friendly and welcoming. My partner has previously visited on a golf trip and we have spent the last couple of new years there with friends. Can't wait until the next time!

Warm friendly staff, cosy room , top notch food - I couldn't fault the place. They even had my favourite beer on tap!

This place has a lot of history for its size and is definitely a memorable place to stay.

Highly recommended if you are planning a trip in the borders.

We stayed here on a Saturday night and had a lovely room with a nice big comfy bed. There Inn has lots of character and so much better than all the big bland hotels. We ate in the Restaurant, the food was good and the service was excellent. Would definitely return.

Allanton is truly a beautiful, home from home. The rooms are immaculate, the staff are wonderfully warm and informing and the food is unbelievable.

This break was for my partner and I to escape the hustle and bustle of the city. On arrival, William the owner greeted us with a huge smile and showed us to our stunning room. Our 3 night stay has allowed us to fully enjoy the room, bar and restaurant to it's fullest and we are already trying to work out when we can come back.

We are leaving relaxed and smiling.

I cannot recommend the Allanton Inn highly enough! What a wonderful place to stay.
