“The NEW ,,,,, Trigg Island Cafe”
Reviewed 21 April 2013

Where to start ,,,, well it has new owners that have changed EVERYTHING , firstly even the signage over the front door says its been there since 1923 ,,,,yes but not as the sign suggests and owned by the current owners. They have changed the decor , maybe it did need a freshen up , they have changed the menu , BAD move , now its much more casual , even the fish and chips is served on fake newspaper on top of the plate ,,,,,, small serves ( unlike the previous owners HUGE serves ) , less on the menu to chose from , they did one thing that we loved , they added a traditional style Prawn Cocktail , it was awesome at $18, but then they changed that too. They took out the nice leafy greens, added cheap lettuce, cheap prawns, a small dollop of bland sauce, cubed the small serve of mangoo which with the sauce was in the bottom of the small bowl and I had to dump the lot on a plate to get to it. What was wrong with the old dish they served it in ? Why change a good thing ? The whole dish was yuk. New staff in the kitchen ? Again ? Service is good but it cant make up for the wholesale changes the new owners have made. We went tonite for my wives birthday and unfortunately for us ( and the owners ) we wont be back. We loved it the way it was and not the way it now is. I wish I knew where the previous owners have gone to as the way the place is now it will never win awards like it used to. The new owners have the best location in Perth that had a great menu and very good name and wrecked the joint. No wonder it was dead there tonite. ps Don't order your steak well done unless you like it black and burned ,,,,,

“Trigg Beach”
Reviewed 11 April 2013

It is the same beautiful view but I really missed Des and Shelley. The place does not have the same ambience, it is a much more casual beach shack atmosphere. The food was ok and served promptly.

“Relaxed cafe with great location”
Reviewed 29 March 2013

With a relaxed and casual atmosphere, Kailis Beach Cafe is a regular destination for breakfast. The food is good, with generous servings, the service is prompt, friendly and professional and the location is hard to beat. It can be rather noisy inside during the day but it's lovely to sit outside on a fine day, straight across from the beach. Prices are reasonable, which is a rare find when so many places will charge for location and views, without matching it with quality of meals. Kailis gets the balance just right.

“great service”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

we stopped here to have a coffee and drinks for the children, they were busy but no problems with not having a meal. we were brought a bottle of water and glasses immediately and then the waiter noticed we had emptied one bottle and brought another one. this place is rather noisy but brilliant views of the ocean and excellent service

“Overpriced & Poor food.”
Reviewed 26 March 2013

What a disaster!

What was a beautiful restuarant overlooking the beach is nothing more than a very expensive fish and chip shop, and not even good at that!!

I had the Fishermans basket, looking forward to a wonderful collection of seafood, wow was I wrong. Fish that was cheap and very bland in taste, prawns that didnt taste fresh to say the least, scallops thats were tasteless, need I go on...

There were 9 of us in our group and do you think they could get the drink orders correct!? Forgetting drinks and serving the wrong wine, then insisting it was what was ordered!

Finally had to wait a long time for our main course even though the place was very quiet, not surprised due to the current quality of food.

Also what happened to the old menu?? That had so much more choice, now the menu just about competes with the local chippy!!

Oh, and why do you put a very annoying plastic sheet over the menus? It looks tacy, is very annoying to try and read through due to the light reflecting on it.

Another thing, why did 3 of us have bad stomaches that night!?! Something certainly wasnt right and I can guarantee we WILL NOT be back and advise others to beware!

Without being 100% negative, the garlic bread was the best I've ever had, but sadly not a reason to go back.

The staff were polite and friendly which is a rare thing these days.
