“Always great.”

We've been going to Ripples for a couple of years now. And will continue to so long as it's there.

The staff always greet us by name and with a smile. The food is always delicious. And they're always willing to cater to your fish and chip wants and needs.

The staff work hard, and deserve to be acknowledged. Well done.

“What was the catch of the day in Moonee Ponds is now just bait”
Reviewed 26 November 2013

When Tony and Rob first opened Ripples it was amazing. The freshness was second to none, the hamburger patties were home made, service always came with a smile and a bit of conversation and on a Friday night it was so busy that you could easily wait 45 minutes because the place was packed and there was easily 50 people in front of you. As for the cleanliness, for a place that uses so much oil, it was spectacularly clean.

Having been in South Melbourne prior to coming to Moonee Ponds, Ripples was filled with loyal customers from the other side of Melbourne as well as people from the Moonee Ponds area who had been crying out for decent fish and chips for years. In a word, it was amazing.

And then they sold.

The burger patties got thinner and thinner and then came pre-packaged and tasted like cardboard. The steamed dim sims looked like they'd been there all week, the taste of the oil spoke volumes that it had not been cleaned as often as it should be, and as for cleaning generally, I'm not sure if anyone one was actually doing that at all. The chip prices were the same, shame you didn't get the box overflowing with chips like you did previously and instead got ones that were barely full. Oh and Friday nights, well you can no longer hear the sound of 50 tummies rumbling in anticipation, now you hear the tumbleweed go through the empty store.

After getting sick twice from here we stopped going. Such a shame considering its a stone's throw from our house, but then again, with so many other choices around, why would you bother eating over priced and under quality food?
