Stenungnen is a nice little hotel. We chose it because of the vicinity to the harbour and parking places. (as well as tripadvisor ratings) We booked the family rooms in the annex with a shared bathroom. Two large rooms, and no other guests untill the last night. Never saw them. Though the rooms were right by the street/intersection/square, it was fairly quiet (apart from the gulls). We were there before high season though, and not on the weeknd, so... Not too hot thanks to the old stone building. Decor in light colours, very scandinavian, might want to choose darker colour for the sofa covers next time. ;) The locks were a bit fiddly for someone coming from Finland (where locks are in principle locked all the time unless you do something to keep the latch in so they're not. In Sweden once you use a key the door is unlocked untill you use the key again to re-lock it.) Breakfast was nice, I missed a bit of fresh lettuce or other greens to have on my sandwich, but other than that it was fine. All the sandwich toppings just tiny amounts in tiny dishes, but they refilled those when necessary. Staff were helpful and everything went smoothly. Big plus from the no unnecessary cleaning of rooms and changing towels every day, only by request and between guests. Love that!

High servicelevel att this local hotel. I got "Annexet" a familyroom, with the sunbathing balcony. Greta, fresh Coffee in the lobby and when I asked for a late checkout, there were no problem. Really nice.

We spent a weekend in Visby in late September. The hotel is ideally located close to the city centre and to the port. Perfect for visiting the sites of Visby. The hotel itself was everything you would expect from a small well run modern hotel. All the mod cons and a very good breakfast. The staff were very welcoming and looked after us well. There is no parking at the hotel itself so we parked at a carpark about 100m away - not inconvenient at all.

I can definitely recommend this hotel for your stay in Visby.

Starting with the positives, the hotel has an excellent location within the city walls of Visby, just a few minutes walk from the central area, numerous restaurants and bars, and also the harbour.

The room was quite small, but tastefully designed with a really comfortable bed, flat screen television, a set of draws and a small place to hang clothes.

Service throughout our stay was friendly and professional.

However, the things that were a disappointment were the terrible wifi which hardly worked at all throughout our stay, the bathroom, which we felt was poorly designed and in need of updating, and the breakfast, which, while served in a nice conservatory, was very limited, with no hot options, and on the day we were there, mostly already gone by the time we arrived.

Overall we felt that for a cost of SEK 1599 per night (around $250 Aussie dollars) the hotel offers very poor value for money.

This small hotel is centrally located in Visby's historic district. The hotel is decidedly no-frills, but it is comfortable, functional, clean, pleasant, and affordable. Breakfast was included in our rate.
