“The staff makes all the difference”
Reviewed 26 July 2014 via mobile

This is a cozy spot in the Visby old town. The rooms are a bit old and located in even older buildings, but everything essential is fix, upgraded and modernized to give the rooms a good old/new vibe.
We stayed for several nights with our three children in a spacious room. The shower was a bit cramped, but servicable. The cleaning service was very efficient and left some happy suprices for our kids to find when we came back from our day trips.
Breakfast was... efficient. There wasn't a lot of choices but everything seemed great and worth trying out. Our kids weren't complaing (as much as they usually do) either.
The car park is... well cramped doesn't do it justice, but that's Visby old town for you.
All in all the hotel wasn't more than three stars, but all the staff was always super friendly and helpful. It really makes the difference here.
The price is not the cheapest, but you get what you pay for.

My mother and I stayed two nights at this charming, family-owned hotel in the old part of Visby. The staff was extremely welcoming, gave us great suggestions on what to see in Visby, and had wonderful restaurant recommendations. The small rooms are extremely clean and well decorated. Great internet connection.
We had to catch an early ferry back to Stockholm so they made us a little picnic to take with us. Not as interesting as their elaborate buffet breakfast, but perfectly adequate for the boat trip back. I would definitely stay there again!

Truly caring staff provided the best service I have experienced in a hotel. Very charming hotel with rooms scattered in different smaller buildings around a garden and an "own" church ruin, perfect for children to play after an exciting day in this beautiful island town. Great location, just a few minutes walk from the main party area, but enough to stay a quiet "oasis". Rooms are cosy rather than "boutique" but have all necessary comforts that we needed. Very comfortable beds, breakfast nice enough and free coffee and tea all day at the reception area, which could be had in the garden. Extra plus for toys and children's books both in the breakfast room and in the reception area!

Room Tip: Families may want to consider a family room towards the garden, or a somewhat larger room.

Incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Great location, close to everything but still a bit secluded. Perfectly okay standard but could be a bit more luxurious for the price. Frukostbuffen lacked continental breakfast, ie, scrambled eggs, bacon, etc.

We stayed 4 nights at this wonderful little hotel that consists of 5 little houses around an impressive church ruin. First of all, the people working at the hotel were genuinely friendly and provided an excellent service. You can tell this is a family run business that members of staff are very passionate about and demonstrate how guests are made to feel welcome!

Our room was spacious, clean and very well equipped. The location was ideal to explore the city, but the Botanical Garden and the sea were also only a couple of minutes walking distance. Good restaurants were very close-by and made it easy to go out for nice meals in the evening.

Breakfast was fresh, offered a wide variety of different breads, meats, cheese, cereal, fresh fruits & vegetables and more than 10 different hot and cold drinks, juices, etc. Eventhough breakfast is offered for a long time period (4 hours in the morning), it is constantly checked upon and EVERYTHING gets filled up with more fresh food until the very last minute - great for late sleepers :)

When we wanted to go on a bicycle trip, we got a free rucksack and blanket at reception. The day of departure, we had to take a very late ferry and were allowed to check out of our room just before reception closed at NO extra cost.

In a nutshell, staying at St. Clemens was a great, relaxing experience at a comparatively low cost that we can highly recommend.

We could not have been more pleased with this charming hotel that was truly beyond our expectations! We stayed there 3 nights, arrived quite late and had to leave early morning due to ferry schedule, yet arrangements were made for us to obtain our room key and a tasty buffet breakfast was available our final morning, at 6:20 a.m.!
The lovely woman at reception was exceptionally warm and professional.
The location was perfect, our room for 3 adults was huge, including two TV's, a sitting area, table and chairs, WI-FI. There also was ample parking.

I can't imagine staying anywhere else in Visby that would have met the standard and character of this amazing property. I have stayed at many a 5* hotel that wasn't nearly as intimate and with as much warmth as this delightful property!

Highly recommend to all!

We loved the charming little hotel of St. Clemens, adjacent to one of the lovely ruined churches of the town. The staff spoke English well and were more than helpful with all our questions. We had to leave very early our last morning on the ferry to Stockholm, and they arranged a delicious picnic lunch for us to take with us, as we had to miss breakfast. Our room was smallish but more than adequate for the two of us, and very clean, pretty, and comfortable. We had gotten used to the Swedish way of having the shower wetting the floor of the bathroom and then using the "squeegee" to clear the water away. No problem for us. We will return to the St. Clemens when we return to Visby, which we are already making plans to do, so we can also explore the rest of the beautiful island of Gotland!
