A truly charming gem of a hotel within the walls of Wisby with a perfect location right next to a beautiful church ruin. We stayed for 4 days in one of the antique beautifully and carefully restored houses connected by two idyllic gardens and loved every minute. The parking and delicious breakfast buffet were extra bonuses. The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. It's not an international 5 star hotel, but perfect if you want to experience a truly wonderful Gotland. We recommend it highly and would love to go back.

Felt very expensive for what we got - but this could very much be a problem with all hotels in the area. Breakfast was pretty poor but service was very friendly and room was comfortable - though wet room bathroom was rather basic

This hotel is not for the traveller who's looking for international big budget hotel standard. Instead it is a charming hotel, almost a little quirky, where one room is totally different from another. We stayed on the second floor and had to climb a quite steep staircase to get there since there is no lift. Be aware of this if you book.
However, there are very nice rooms at street-level with small patios in front for those who are unable or unwilling to climb stairs.
The room was small and far from luxurious but supplied with the necessities you can ask for during a stay...if you don't plan to stay in the room the whole time.
The breakfast was of the normal swedish variety with different kinds of breads, coffee, yoghurt and such. Only the addition of cookies and sweets were suprising.
And finally a word about the staff...EVERYONE was very welcoming and always willing to give a helping hand if they could. Two thumbs up in that respect!

If you like the consistency of an international hotel, then the St Clemens is not for you. However, if you want a charming and friendly independent hotel, it would be hard to find anything better on Gotland. My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights in August in a mini suite, costing 1650 SEK a night, which overlooked the beautiful botanic gardens.

The decor and fittings of the room were quite dated, but the bed was comfortable and I liked the cosy little sitting room, and it was very quiet there. There were some lapses in housekeeping, wet towels not hung up or replaced, and the odd cobweb.

However, the hotel grounds are lovely, breakfasts are very good, with lots of fruit and local berries, and the reception staff were extremely friendly and helpful. There is even a hotel dog, Rusty! I left my credit card in reception and they tried to get in touch by email to let me know, and mailed it back to the UK without delay or charge. They also told us about Mickie's car hire aka Rent a Wreck and we rented a 15 year old VW Golf for 250 SEK, which I thought great value, tho I think you can also get a new one through statoil.se for 299 a day. Driving up to Faro is a must!

Warmly recommended.

We liked this hotel. We stayed only for one night but would not hesitate to stay longer.
Friendly staff and atomsphere. Good location, on the inside of the town wall and in a picturesque environment.
Our room was fronted to a cobbled stoned street that was quite noisy when cars drove by. Although, that was not a big issue. The traffic is not very intense because only authorized traffic is allowed.

The hotel is located within the medieval walls of Visby, adjoining one of the town's many ruined churches, after which it is named. In fact, the hotel garden has its own private entrance to the ruins! The setting and public spaces, including the garden and breakfast area, are lovely. The staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. For example, they went out of their way to offer us some coffee at the crack of dawn before we left to make an early ferry. Another plus is that the hotel has parking, which is extremely limited inside the old city walls.

The rooms are scattered through an eclectic collection of old buildings and outbuildings, so it's impossible to generalize about the accommodations. Our room, in one of the smaller outbuildings was spacious. However, the furnishings and bathroom fittings were somewhat shabby, although comfortable. I know there are fancier places to stay in Visby, with more up-to-date plumbing, but I can't imagine any of them offering as friendly and charming a setting.

Can't say enough about this property. Our two-night stay in a suite (138) was a highlight of our time in Sweden.

+ Suite had two separate rooms with skylights thoughout, a huge bathroom and a personal sauna that could accommodate 4 easily
+ Breakfast was a very nice typical offering served in a lovely, sunny room
+ Parking is available for guests onsite
+ Desk service was great, they made numerous recommendations about where to eat and what to do and fielded every question with a smile

- Location is inside the old city and close to everything, though not as central as some others. It's a 20-minute walk from the ferry terminal, or a $10 taxi ride.

I'm sure our room had something to do with it, but we loved this place and would highly recommend it to others.
