We travelled as a family of five four adults and a 2 year old. Looking for a chill out inexpensive break.
This place is exactly like the pictures, clean and beautiful and MASSIVE.We arrived in darkness so we were not able to appreciate all of it until the next morning when we discovered the annex. There are 3 bedrooms and one bathroom in the main house and then the annex has another bedroom and bathroom, both main bedrooms have travel cots under the beds. The annex would be perfect if there are a couple of people in your party who want a little privacy but we just used the bathroom really.
Maria had kindly left us a bottle of red and some good cheese which was most welcome. We then had to buy a few bits from Gran Tarajal just for breakfast etc. There are 24 hour shops here and a couple of larger supermarkets open mon-sat until 21:00 so if you arrive on a Saturday eve like us please be aware you wont be doing a big supermarket shop on Sunday. If you fancy eating out though there is a great little place at Juan Gopper probably 4km from the villa. Portion sizes are huge! we wondered why there were half portions on the menu, then the food arrived! also reasonably priced for the quality too. Gran Tarajal has a handful of good eateries and we particularly enjoyed La Nonna.
Back at the villa we had fun in the pool. Don't let the unheated bit put you off, after the sun has been on it its o.k and with an inflatable or two its fine. I think this place seems to have its own micro climate and seems to be sheltered from the wind quite well. We had some amazing days chilling out around the pool.
No need to take towels there are an absolute stack at the villa. We really didn't need half the clothes we took either. Musts if we did this again would be warm comfy clothes for sitting around in the evening and our favourite coffee. None bio wash liquid and a decent first aid kit as a Drive to gran Tarajal with an upset tummy might just be too much!
There are a lot of basics already provided at the villa, loo roll kitchen roll dishwasher tablets - so check out what you have before you buy. If you like British T.V you wont find much of it here so you may want to download a couple of films/games etc but with such a beautiful place to explore why would you sit indoors? The internet is fairly good for the canaries, better than in some hotels. We had a problem with this in the middle of the holiday and e-mailed Maria. The next day it was fixed! and a brand new router in place.
At this location you are more or less in the middle of the island so the potential to explore is great. Try Mal Nombre beach and café bar(Tierra Dorada) food and drinks are good and the staff are lovely.
We had a couple of trips down to Jandia as we stayed there the previous year and the Chinese there is very good.
In summation - if you want a very peaceful beautiful location with great and clean amenities, this is for you. If you prefer the hustle and bustle on your doorstep- nightclubs etc. You need to go to the north of the island. This place is definitely for us and we are already considering another visit.
You will need a car. Check the location on google and you will see it is remote.
Try to get here in daylight, its not that easy to find.
Slide the main gate! we stood outside for ages thinking we were locked out. LOL.
Maria, the lady you will communicate with does not speak English but if you communicate via text and e-mail she will respond quite quickly.
Explore every cupboard, chest and draw this place has everything! we found another football and a pump for inflatables on the last day in the wooden chest. By this time of course we had purchased these.
