“Perfect!”
Reviewed 18 May 2017 for a stay in May 2017

Brilliant apartment, spacious, spotless with a large sun terrace overlooking the pool and small beach. Perfect for the two of us and a family would also have plenty of room. The terrace was comfortably furnished for lazing around or eating al fresco. Great shower in the bathroom. The thoughtful owners had left books to read, dvds to watch, cards etc. Nice walk past the harbour to the town with its many shops, supermarkets and bars and restaurants. Would have no hesitation on recommending it.

“Perfect apartment for a cycling holiday”
Reviewed 28 March 2017 for a stay in March 2017

Great location and a very clean and spacious apartment. A very large patio which can be a plus for those who do not spend their entire days on the roads like we did :)

The owners are outstanding and have supplied everything one would need for a stay in this apartment!

“2nd visit”
Reviewed 26 February 2017 for a stay in February 2017

Casa Sylph was just as perfect for a week's winter sun as I remembered it from 2 years ago.
Comfortable, spotless, the wonderful views from the huge terrace, home from home,
Gran Tarajal is such a friendly town and wonderfully void of tourist tat.
Would happily visit again

“Excellent apartment”

This is really an excellent apartment in a great position if you like a quiet relaxing experience in an authentic Spanish town. There is a local beach - the sand is a bit grey but clean. The accommodation is first class and very well equipped. It is spotlessly clean and very well organised. It has a stunning terrace which overlooks the sea. Some great outside furniture and everything you could need for a relaxed holiday. The access is excellent and although the parking space is not on the same level as the apartment there is a lift from the parking to the apartment. You don't have to walk up the steps if you have any difficulty - just use the lift.
The lounge is very well equipped and comfortable. Not much UK TV but great wi-fi. (take you tablet or laptop and load "film on TV' - then you can watch UK TV as much as you like)
The whole complex is very well maintained. The pool is spotless (although too cold for us in February!)
We honestly don't think you can find a better apartment in Fuerteventura for the price.
The town is typically Spanish - don't go here if you want lots of tourist attractions or if you want loads of night life. But DO go here if you want to wander along the sea front, relax in a cafe with a coffee and watch the boats come and go from the marina.
The owner is extremely helpful and very well organised. all instructions are clear and information very useful.

“Great apartment in a great location”

This was our first visit to Fuerteventura but will most definitely not be our last. The apartment is huge and had ample room for the four of us (two adults and two teens). It is well equipped and was clean and comfortable. The massive terrace/balcony has a fabulous view of the sea, bay and mountains over the swimming pool below. ( This view can also be appreciated from the lounge area thanks to the full width sliding glass doors.) Half of this area has a very substantial sun awning which can be rolled out or kept open. There is an air conditioning unit in the lounge but not anywhere else in the apartment. This would be my only criticism but with the caveat that the bedrooms all have ceiling fans. The swimming pool is a proper 25m pool and as we are a sporty family we were able to use this for regular swim training. The pool and surrounding area was always kept very clean (on site maintenance staff clean it daily as well as put out and store away the loungers and sun umbrellas morning and evening) There are three large under building garages with parking spaces for each property and only accessible via a security barrier.
The bay just in front of the complex is backed with stones and rocks rather than sand but is safe for swimming (we did so several times). The nearest sandy beach however is no more than a ten minute walk via the modern marina which separates the two bays. This is the Gran Tarajal town beach and is black sand but very large and again is a safe beach to swim off.
Along the back of the beach is a pleasant promenade where families socialise each evening. Lining this promenade are several excellent and good value restaurants, Italian, Mexican, Spanish, Chinese as well as one place you can get a good filet steak for an incredible €15! There is also a very good fish restaurant on the side of the marina. The fish is landed here and couldn't be any fresher (They will bring out a large platter of uncooked examples of the fish they have on offer that day).
We stayed for three weeks and travelled the whole island via hire car. For us Gran Tarajal was still the best place to be. It is authentically Spanish with 'local' prices in the supermarkets and restaurants and little concession to tourism. Some of the well known resorts were our idea of holiday hell (over developed and full of the 'union flag shorts' and 'here we go brigade'! Not so in Gran Tarajal.
Cycling (we only did road cycling) is a delight from this base too. The tarmac road surfaces are immaculate and even in. August never busy. The vast majority of drivers are very courteous towards cyclists. In town as a pedestrian you only have to look as if you want to cross the road and the drivers will stop for you!
The owners of the apartment are English and couldn't have been more helpful (via e.mail).
It is not a question of if we will be back, more like when!
