Owner description: Alby Crafts & Gardens is a complex of creative businesses housed in an attractive collection of converted farm buildings in rural north Norfolk. We are easy to find, half way between Cromer and Aylsham on the A140. We currently have a fine art sculptor, paper cut artist, upholsterer, wood turner, pen and ink artist, potter/bee keeper and dressmaker all working here, selling their work and running workshops. There are five galleries/shops in the Lower Courtyard selling original paintings, sculpture, jewellery, ceramics, prints, wood, glass and metal work etc by over 70 different East Anglian artists. The dressmaker and upholsterer are in the gallery upstairs and we have a very good gift shop in the upper courtyard. We have a great chef and our tea room serves morning coffee, fabulous lunches and afternoon tea - and some evenings it opens as a bistro with a series of themed suppers. You can also spent time in our 4 acres of RHS gardens (£2.50 entry). If you are fed up of seeing the same products in the high streets across the country, then you will enjoy browsing around the shops and galleries here. The tea room, gift shop and gardens are always open during our advertised hours. Other businesses may vary slightly so check our website and phone ahead if you are coming a long way to see someone in particular. We look forward to seeing you this summer.

“Consistently Good - for over 20 years!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 August 2014

I think we've been visiting Alby Crafts for over 20 years now. A good variety of crafts and artisans. Currently having a picture framed there. Good gift and card shop, and artists and similar. So what about authors! Commercial - read 'A Dentist's Story', which is a humorous story of training and practising as a dentist, available from Amazon and all good booksellers. Forgive men- but you really will ENJOY it!

The restaurant. Wendy and I each had soup and bread (the rolls were gone, but the bread was excellent) - and I had a side order of fries!

So do visit Alby Crafts. Enjoy the restaurant. Peruse the artisans. And read that book by local Norfolk dentist!!!!

“High class craft centre with an ace cafe and gardens”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

Stuck out in the wilds of Norfolk, off the A140 where it bends around Aylsham, this craft centre has been in place for a good decade or so.

Apart from an excellent tea room, with a courtyard for when the weather is good, the complex boasts a hairdresser (!), the obligatory gift shop, a large Moroccan crafts shop and some resident arts and craft people. Possible the most unusual is the shop that sells potters requisites (clay, kilns, etc. and also bee-keeping equipment including hives.

The tea-room alone is worth the visit (my wife had a Norfolk Egg along with her tea - a Norfolk Egg is like a Scotch Egg but has bacon and mashed potato enclosing the egg).
