“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 August 2013

When we saw the photo's of the rooms we wanted to stay here--it is worth the cost----very comfortable and great hosts. We liked having a lounge area to sit in and the separate bedroom; the power shower is just that. The breakfast service in the lounge works well with the order placed the night before. The views were fab; this is a place to stay any time of year. We did walks straight from the door, which is a bonus at busy times, no worries about parking spaces. There are great places to eat nearby, within walking distance. We look forward to returning.

Room Tip: Take your pick the upstairs or the downstairs both looked good.

Thank you Sue for your review. You certainly had some good walks in decent weather which is always a bonus. You were the first Sue of three we had as guests that week.
It was lovely meeting you and Ian and we would welcome you back any time.
Regards,
Stewart.

Its taken us a few weeks to get around to doing this review. We stayed for 4 nights at the beginning of July in the Skiddaw room.

We prefer staying in B&Bs to hotels as they are much more individual than hotels where in general you could be anywhere in the world once you are in your room. Bisoi is definitely up there with the best B&Bs we have stayed in. A lot of thought has gone into the design and Judith and Stewart are great hosts, friendly and helpful without being obtrusive.

Of course the location is fabulous, within an easy walk of a village pub for meals and a drink, easy driving to anywhere you want to visit in the Lakes and the view from the room is just fabulous. My favourite walk of the trip was the one from the front door up Barrow - the views from there were amazing. We were very lucky with the weather - that weekend was the start of the summer heat wave.

The room itself is very well thought out. The bedroom has a kingsize bed with plenty of storage space and plenty of room. A hairdryer was provided with a plug socket in reach of a mirror (which in lot of places nobody seems to have thought of). The bathroom was very modern with a bath and a shower - the digital shower was great - instantly at the right temperature, powerful flow and no temperature fluctuations. Having the lounge as well was great - after walking all day, it was so nice to come home and chill on the sofa and watch TV rather than having to lie on the bed. In fact we came home earlier one day after a short walk to watch Andy Murray win Wimbledon.

When we arrived at the B&B Stewart pointed out that we could put the fire on if the room wasn't warm enough - not needed on the days we were there but I can imagine being there in the colder months and being nice and cosy of a evening.

Staying the upstairs room we didn't have the benefit of the decking right outside the room that the downstairs room had, which would have been nice in the heat, but instead we got that amazing view from the upstairs window so I'm not complaining. It was a nice treat having the homemade cakes and biscuits every day to go along with the tea & coffee (with fresh milk from the fridge in the room). I missed out on the ginger biscuits as I forgot about them, and there was something fresh there the next day - my own fault for filling up too much on breakfast.

The breakfasts were also top quality - plenty of choice and brought up to your room. Not going down to a dining room for breakfast meant that you could relax a bit more, leave your shoes off and read the paper whilst eating breakfast - a nice relaxing start to the day, and of course we always had the table by the window.

In summary, there are a few places we have been where we have said we wish we could pick them up and move them to wherever we want to stay in the world and this in one of those places. Keswick is a lovely part of the country and I am quite sure we will be back, I just think we will have to be booking very early or be very flexible with our dates to get in.

Wow! Thank you for all that praise Shirley and Michael. My little body is struggling to carry my head.
We really appreciate you taking the time to put all that into your review. It was a shame that Angela and Geoff were unable to join you, however I hear that Geoff is on the mend.
We do look forward to meeting you again.

Recently stayed for 2 nights in Latrigg suite, cannot fault the excellent accommodation and the lovely owners. Having a sitting room as well as a very spacious bedroom was great, plenty of room to relax on an evening. The furnishings are excellent and no expense as been spared in the suite. An added bonus was the home made cake left each day! Would certainly recommend without reservation.

Just spent a lovely weekend at the Bisoi. Stewart and Judith are lovely as was our suite. We stayed in the Skiddaw Suite and the views were amazing. We couldn't fault it in anyway and I have to say we are not always that easy to please! It was lovely having your own lounge and space to move around, being able to come and go as you please. It is in a really good location for those wanting to view the Ospreys nesting on Bassenthwaite. You don't have to drive to look for a meal at night as there are two pubs within walking distance......
The only problem that we have now is that it has made it very difficult for us the next time we are looking for a B&B, no one seems to have thought of the the same concept.

Trust us - Choose Bisoi! We can be quite fussy at the best of times, but here we literally could not have asked for more. The views from the window you'll see in the pictures doesn't do them justice - they are much more breath-taking in person. The B&B is perfectly placed for evening meals and walks, we'd suggest the Middle Ruddings to Eat as the food is very well priced and of a good standard. We walked up and around Catbells (on the recommendation of our hosts) and it was stunningly beautiful.

The host and hostess were perfect. All our needs were taken care of and help was offered whenever possible - we could't have been looked after better, we felt in very safe hands. You'll appreciate the small things when you visit, like the uniquely flavoured homemade jams that come with breakfast, the fresh home-baked cakes you'll find in the cake tin, the selection of games to play inside the room (I dare say if it rains!) and the carefully selected reading material and tourist information on the coffee table.

The room is well equipped with plenty of gadgets, including Music Speakers, a Fire Place and a Coffee Machine and was immaculately clean and well furnished.

The breakfast was very well thought-out and beautifully prepared. It far surpasses the generic, mass breakfasts you'll get from many hotels. We will definitely be coming back here - we did a lot of research around the best places to stay in The Lakes and Bisoi seemed like the best value for money for miles around - we were right!

Room Tip: Two Rooms - Skiddaw is upstairs and Latrigg is downstairs. Both beautiful.

Well thank you for that review Charlotte. It was just as good for us to see how much you enjoyed your stay and first visit to The Lakes. I see you found the games, but as you say they get more use in the winter. We look forward to your next visit with Mass, as I think we share the same sick sense of humour.

Choosing the right B&B or hotel can be often tricky. We all have some level of expectation, some level of consternation and each of us hope that the place you rest your weary head for the next few days will be as lovely as the photographs. The Bisoi B&B is right up there with the best we have stayed in...anywhere! The hosts, Stuart and Judith are clearly enjoying their running of this superb B&B, either that or they could tread the boards with their acting skills! Both are really lovely and had the delicate balance of being welcoming but not too overbearing! They have made the best of the location, with rooms gazing out onto the Latrigg and Skiddaw peaks beyond, aptly naming each of the suites after them. We stayed in the Latrigg, a ground floor suite with separate lounge and terrace to enjoy the views whilst having breakfast (photo included). The double bedroom is a really good size and located at the back of the house so very quiet. It's all the little touches that make Bisoi a real find, from the excellent choices for breakfast, to the fantastic cakes that Judith makes each day and the choice of walks and literature to find the best local walking routes, it really does have pretty much everything you could need. Overall we enjoyed our stay immensely and highly recommend this little gem. See for yourself!

B & B of a boutique hotel standard. Perfect for a break of any kind. Braithwaite is a super base for exploring - the walk to Grizedale Pike and the horseshoe surpasses all others. Our hosts had thought of everything, made us most welcome and couldn't have done more. We will be back.
