After a day of business meetings, the Thingaha is a great hotel to come back to and relax. Most of the rooms are like standalone villas, very spacious and comfortable. Internet works well most of the time. Considering that not all western foods are available in Myanmar the breakfast is not too bad, as long as your expectations are not high. The hotel is well located in the hotel zone and the price is reasonable for Myanmar. The reception staff are extremely friendly, and I recall the first time that I stayed here over my birthday in late 2012; they noticed my birthday from my passport, and left a large chocolate birthday cake in my room. That was a very kind gesture and sums up why I really enjoy staying here.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms overlooking the lake are my favourite

Very nice place with cooperative staff. Food is good. The rooms near the lake are very nice. Nice place to relax after work as the hotel is spread over a large area. One suggestion: Hope they start a fitness center soon.

stayed first time in hotel in hotel zone. unexpected experience. It never looked like a typical hotel. Rooms were in pair in ground and 1st floor spread all over. very pleasesant enviorement. In fact it could have been named as a resort and being located in the mid of city it had an experince of staying in hut in a beautiful garden. It was sooooooooo pleaseing.great.

Room Tip: Any room you choose you will like staying in a garden surround.

Naw Pyi Taw ( or Naypidaw ) is the new administrative city for Myanmar. It is located about 320km north of Yangon, and it became the capital since 2005. The whole area is newly developed, and as such, it is well laid out and comprises of a few zones. Most of the hotels are located in the Hotel Zone – there may be some 20-30 hotels next to each other located here. Most of the government agencies / ministries are also located in this city.

Since it is a new city, most of the buildings are new, the roads are wide with proper lighting, the landscape along the main roads are well maintained. As such, there is no traffic jam that you would experience in Yangon. However, the city is still undergoing construction, and the vast empty land around the area has yet to be developed. I think most of the infrastructures are already built – hotels, offices, supermarkets, stadiums, transportation hubs etc – in fact this city is also hosting the SEA Games 2013, apart from Yangon.

The Thingaha Hotel is located in the hotel zone, spanning across huge area of land since it is a villa – type concept of resort. There are a few blocks of 2 storey buildings consisting of some rooms. Due to the huge area, you will be need a buggy to move around in the area. It doesn’t take long to call for a buggy, about 10 minutes even during peak period eg morning when most people are going for their breakfast.

One side of the lobby is glass, overlooking, probably a man made lake, whereby there is still construction going on next to it. Probably when the construction is completed, it will be a nice view. The restaurant is located in another building, and therefore the lobby, with plenty of sofas, served mainly for check in and check out.

The villa that I had was very spacious – overlooking the man made lake – there is a foyer, a dressing area with cupboard and the main room with balcony. The bathroom is also spacious with a big sized bathtub and a separate shower and toilet room. So as you enter the huge main door, straight down is the dressing area, to the left is the bathroom and the main room is to the right. – ie you need to pass the foyer to get to the toilet from the main room.

The deco is nice, with a touch of natural ambience, especially in the bathroom. Shower is good, but you need to turn on the water heater, maybe about 20 minutes before you want to take shower so that you will get hot water.

The room also has plenty of lights – it is well lighted, unlike some hotels where the room light is quite dim. The only thing is that the writing table position is positioned behind the door into the main room, which means you can hardly see the TV while you are at the table – it is a quite a distance as well due to huge size of the room.

The only let down, I would say, is the buffet breakfast spread – very limited in choices and spreads. More a kin to 3 star hotel standards, I would say. That was really disappointing.

Apart from the disappointing breakfast spread, the room and the area is really nice with well maintain landscape and gardens.

Stayed here for a 4 days for an event organised by my company.

The rooms are very nice and clean. Staff were very warm and helpful. As i was the organiser for the event, they have lived up to my expectations as we had some last minute demands which I was afraid that they couldn't cater. The entire event went very well without any hiccups and all of my bosses said it was very well planned etc.

Breakfast spread was average (still can't beat Traders) but it was quite alright as we didn't get the chance to properly enjoy the spread. The food ordered from ala-carte was good!

Price wise, I'd say it's quite alright compared to the hotel i stay in Yangon as the rooms here is definitely better and this is a 4-star.

The only thing lacking is swimming pool and a spa - that would have been perfect if they have both. The pool and spa is currently under construction.

i would recommend this place if you do visit Nay Pyi Taw.

I have stayed at the Thingaha twice thus far. The service is impeccable, the food is excellent, and the buggy service very reliable. I only have 4 suggestions for improvement: (1) It would be great if international credit cards were accepted, though I believe it is only a matter of time before it happens with the SEA Games around the corner. (2) The WIFI connection tends to be intermittent, particularly at night. Strangely, it seems to slow down around 9.00pm daily. (3) The pillows could be much softer. The feeling now is akin to resting one's head upon a stiff sack. (4) The shower is definitely the let down. It is not detachable and mounted too high on the wall, rendering the shower a sprinkler instead. It is difficult to get a good wash, and ironically also a waste of water. After the long trip from Yangon, which is where most international visitors transit from, a working shower is an essential! Perhaps the hotel management could install a detachable shower head instead to remedy this. That said, I have had nothing but great experiences here. Kudos to the front-line staff for their lovely smiles! Mingalaba! :)
