“Very wet weather stay, but still a great stay!”
Reviewed 5 January 2014

The farmhouse is a lovely typical old style English cottage with the odd conversion added on.
The room we stayed in was en-suite with a shower but a bath was available across the landing. As with any traditional cottage the rooms are reasonably small but very well fitted and with a good attention to detail from Joanne. Rob is a painter/decorator so the whole building is kept to a high standard and the whole building was warm enough without being too hot.
The breakfast was superb and basically a wide choice of whatever you want, far more than we could eat. They also provide a pack lunch service which was also very good at £6, sandwich (cheese/ham or whatever), apple, orange, 2x snack bars, cake (or mince pie), crisps and a drink.
There is the pub across the road which we had New years dinner in and the food was very reasonably priced and very good.
There are other places to eat and drink within a mile or so but the only lakeside café we did that was close was the nickel end marina café as it rained a lot when we were there and the lake was only a few feet from their back door at the marina so it made for an interesting lunch (which was also very cheap).
All in all a very enjoyable stay with lovely friendly owners who cannot do enough to make your stay enjoyable.

Room Tip: All rooms are quiet even the rooms onto the road as it's a very quiet road. Some have a shared...

This is a clean, comfortable and quiet place. Ms. Bright takes a lot of care with her accommodations and the excellent full English breakfast each morning. Decent pub across the street for other meals and many more options just down the road. A gorgeous setting as well.

We really enjoyed our short stay at the Swinside Farmhouse B&B shortly after Christmas. The weather was terrible but our hostess, Jo Bright, helped us to make the best of it. The inn is small (3 rooms) and cozy and perhaps the cleanest B&B I have ever stayed in. The full English breakfast was first rate and the location is perfect. The only negative is that the beds are not very comfortable.

Fantastic location in the heart of the Lake District. Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and warm hospitality. What more can you ask for. Oh yes, good weather! But had great time despite the rain. Looking forward to a return trip, hopefully in a dry spell.

We spent one night at Swinside Farmhouse following a walk around Buttermere, it is a really welcoming place with spotlessly clean & cosy well equipped bedrooms and the most delicious breakfast served by Jo who was really smiley and helpful, we will definitely return.
