We stayed at Noelines on the second night walking the Queen Charlotte Track and would highly recommend this to anyone. The place is made by Noeline who is an incredible person, she is 82 and amazingly independent and interesting. She makes great scones as well

Staying in Noelines is truly a unique experience. The house and rooms are all functional, but not by any means salubrious. But it staying here worthwhile is the company. As others have said, it really is like staying with your Granny. To get the most from the experience, you really need to spend time talking to Noeline and hearing the many stories she has to share.

If you prefer 5 star rooms with no interaction with the owners, then this is not the place for you. But if every once in a while you like staying in functional but personal and friendly surroundings, then you should give this a try.

Noeline has here own jetty on Endeavor Inlet, so the water taxis can drop your bags the the end of the jetty. You just need to carry them the 100m up the hill to the house. The Punga Cove resort is about 10 mins walk away and is a good option for a bite to eat after a long days walking. Noeline can call ahead to ensure that they are serving.

If you're feeling hardy, a swim along the jetty is the perfect way to cool off and to relax the muscles from your walk....

Arrived after our walk from Furneaux Lodge, Noelene was there to meet us with a welcomed cup of Tea and Scones, just what we needed after the walk up the hill. Great hospitality and reiterate the review by the previous reviewer. We all had great sleep, lots of talk and stories. A beautiful spot in the world. We were also sooo greatfull to be able to go to Punga Lodge Cafe for a meal by boat (whuch was also great) - Thanks Noelene you are a great lady

We were welcomed to Noeline's house with scones and tea and regaled with fascinating tales of life in the Sound, late life travel, local gossip, mellowed world views and more. The beds were warm and comfy and we kept soundly. A great stop on the track. Loved it.

Noeline is an absolute Gem. Aged 81 now, and widowed in 1998, she's since travelled to some 53 countries (plenty more on the way) - funded by the very modest amount you pay to stay with her. Noeline's place isn't a hotel - it's not a hostel... it's her home, and she makes you very very welcome - we even got a hug and a kiss as we left in the morning!

She'll look after you well, and tell you a million stories... and it's only a short walk around to Punga Cove for a decent dinner in the boat shed cafe/bar. Though, you can cook in Noeline's kitchen if you want.

Noeline's Homestay is an authentic part of kiwi culture - it doesn't pretend to be anything it's not, it's just pure, wholesome, kiwi goodness.

We were greeted with a plate of hot scones and a hot drink when we arrived. Noeline is a friendly 80-something year old. She has also travelled widely internationally and has some interested stories to tell. A bit of the QC track but a comfortable place to stay.
