Tripadvisor rarely let's us down and Mansedale was no exception. From first email contact with Douglas, to the greeting from Elaine and then the stunning room and fantastic breakfast, this must be one of the best B&Bs in the UK. Our room comfortably fitted the four of us in style and comfort. It was spotlessly clean with contemporary fittings but it was still cosy. Breakfast was well cooked and presented and proved to be the icing on the cake of a short but memorable stay.

My wife and I had the privilege to stay for three wonderful nights at the Mansedale House. Dougie and Elaine were the perfect hosts and are the warmest and friendliest, too. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Warm and friendly, helpful and kind, they fully deserve the comments that other guests have posted. Our room, (The Laroch) was ultra clean and comfortable and superbly well appointed. The king-sized bed was brilliant, as was the magnificent bathroom. The other accommodations looked fabulous, too. The breakfasts were "to die for" and I tried both their traditional and the smoked salmon and scrambled eggs. My wife, being a veggie had ample to choose from too and was very impressed by the standard of choice and cooking. Believe me, we have stayed at countless establishments over the years and this breakfast is just the best. I even joked that I could eat some more and Elaine DID offer , without hesitation, some more! I refused course, the breakfasts are more than ample to set anyone up for the day ahead in the most delightful of settings. One of the touches that made my wife and I even more happy was the magnificent gazebo in the garden. It was lovely to have a glass of wine or a gin and tonic and chat away the lovely day we'd just had. Also, before we ventured out in the late afternoon, just sitting there with a glass of wine was the perfect way to set up the evening. The gardens are beautifully kept and their obvious love of it simply oozes. We will definitely be booking there sometime next year - if it's not full! We have already recommended this wonderful place to friends and family. As my title suggests, Mansedale House and the hosts Dougie and Elaine are better than best. And deservedly so.

Room Tip: I can't honestly comments on any of the other rooms, as we have not stayed in any of them, but t...

We have nothing to add to all the excellent reviews of all the other travelers, in fact, why "bother" trying to find another home to stay, if Elaine and Douglas have a room available!
It might be helpful to stress in the location the town of Strathkinness, rather than St Andrews, because our navigator in the car was very upset with us that we kept insisting it finds for us the Main Street in St Andrews, which does not exist.

We stayed here for five nights for a golf event in St Andrews and were delighted with our choice, as were the two couples who came with us. Elaine, Doug and Gary were warm, helpful and efficient, always ready to take an interest in our holiday. Doug even offered to send us a copy of the following week's local paper, which would have photos of our event, and offered to lend me his power trolley when mine broke down. The room was very comfortable, attractively decorated and had a huge bed. The French windows opened onto the pretty garden. Shower room excellent with plenty of room for my clutter and had a good heated towel rail, handy for drying small items. We arrived with lots of bags and golf paraphernalia, some of which Doug let us store in the garage, so that we could fit our friends into our car. Breakfasts excellent and a good variety. Lovely fruit salads differently arranged every day. We liked it all so much we have already booked for next year.

Room Tip: All rooms are lovely.

We stayed here last month on a mini tour of Scotland and couldnt have been more pleased. If you are happy to be just outside of St Andrews then this is the place to stay.
Very clean and very comfortable. We got an incredibly warm welcome and then were just left to enjoy our space. All rooms are independent from the main house so you feel like you really do have your privacy. Elaine's breakfast was amazing, scrambled eggs and fresh salmon and porridge...what a way to set you up for the day. I couldnt find anything but positives to say about our stay. And I will be going back!

Stayed at the Mansdale House with my new wife. Doug and Elaine are the sweetest people. They made the visit special. They didn't have to, but they spent there time making our short stay a special one. If you are going to stay in St. Andrews, then stay with Doug and Elaine!

Room Tip: The room was great. Ask for the Doocot, but I bet the other two options are great too.
