We were only able to stay the one night at the end of our holiday , but came away wishing we could have stayed longer . From the first welcome to the final goodbye everything was done to ensure our stay was a great experience.

I booked the Hawthorne house for my parents, my aunt and uncle, a close friend, and myself. It was one of the only places near St Andrews that could accomodate us. Ann is a delightful innkeeper and her husband, an avid gardener, makes the place even more charming. The rooms were comfy and clean, and the breakfast is delicious. There is a tavern at the top of the hill in Strathkinness with a wonderful view and outdoor seating. Bring your guitar if you play, because they have an open mic on Mondays - a perfect way to end the day!

The rooms were clean and tidy. The location was perfect and away for any hustle and bustle. The owner was a lovely hostess and made sure we had a pleasant stay.

Stayed with my family for two nights in April of this year, after travelling for the University Open day. The two rooms we had were well appointed and very nice indeed. The breakfasts were tremendous and Ann made sure you did not leave hungry! It even has free wifi and is great value for money. I would definitely stay again.

My girlfriend and I visited the Hawthorne House during the st Andrews week and it was one of the best b&bs we ever visited. The room was very clean, nice and comfortable and we can recommend this b&b for singles, couples and families. The breakfast was very good too and I had the best scottish breakfast there I ever tried. Should you arrive by car I recommend that you take the bus into St Andrews, the busstop is right in front of the b&b and for £2 it takes you to st Andrews in about 10 min. and you don´t have to worry about the pints you may have in St Andrews. (The last bus leaves at 11 pm for St Andrews busstation)
You will not find a better service and a friendlier host throughout the UK.

We arrived in St. Andrews in the midst of an all-day heavy rain with wind, so golf was out of the question! After lunch, we headed to our B&B and found a lovely warm welcome awaiting us. Our hosts made us hot toddies to ward off the chill. We had dinner at the local pub (which I think is the only pub in Strathkinness) and had a very good meal at a reasonable price. The next morning we had to leave at 4:30 a.m. to catch an Edinburgh flight, and despite our insistence that we did not need a hot breakfast or any kind of breakfast for that matter, our hostess provided us with the full English fare. For sure, hospitality above and beyond.
