I recently stayed at Cal Torner for two nights, discovering the wonderful wine region of Priorat. Cal Torner is centrally located, a short drive from any winery in the area. We stayed in the Imperial room and it was spacious, chic and our view opened out to the adorable village of Els Guiamets. Our hosts Antonia and Jordi were our favorite parts of the stay. They helped us organize winery visits throughout the day and we spent each evening with a gourmet meal at the hotel, paired with incredible Priorat and Montsant wines. Also don't skip breakfast...freshly squeeze orange juice, and a full chacuterie and cheese platter avail for any takers. Couldn't recommend this place more - thanks again to our wonderful hosts. Hope to be back soon!

What a wonderful surprise this hotel was, a shear joy. The hotel is a gorgeous country house in a simply picturesque setting. The hotel is run by a married couple who have beautifully restored this ancient house. The hotel has 7 rooms. My group occupied 6 of the rooms on our 1 night stay during our tour of the Priorat. Our room was a large L shaped room on the second floor. The room was great, with a large bath tub, a large walk in shower, large (very comfortable) double bed and in the L part off the bedroom a sofa overlooking the large double french doors. The views from the room were interesting, church tower occupied one view and the amazing Priorat countryside over the roofs of the neigbouring buildings the other view.

The rooms were very tastefully decorated and very comfortable, the bed was firm and comfortable, the linens were soft and inviting, the bath amenities were delightful (if a little feminine), the room has two large flat screen TVs (but no channels in English). Only slight complaint is that there is no kettle or tea/coffee making facilities. It was quite surprising that there was a lift to the rooms on the second floor. This was a welcome surprise because after a day of wine tasting in the Priorat, I really did not want to hump my luggage up the winding staircase to the second floor.

The immediate surrounding area around the hotel is worth a brief walk. Great views over the surrounding countryside and interesting local architecture and shops - great local bakery close by (good place to stock up for the road trip the next day).

We had dinner and breakfast in the hotel. Both meals were prepared by our hosts and both were very good, but I'd come back to this hotel for the breakfast! Simple fresh local produce. What more could you want. The breakfast was a selection of local dried meats, cheese, fruit, toast and sweet things. The sweet pumpkin pastry thing was simply amazing!

Our host was extremely friendly and spoke perfect English. She was rather busy while we were there as there were seven of us and her husband was not in that night, so we didn't have much time to chat to her. We had a little time to chat over breakfast and when we checked out, we each got a double cheek kiss - lovely!

Would I stay here again, you bet! I am counting the days.

Antonia and Jordi were excellent hosts and extremely helpful when our car developed a flat tyre! The hotel has been sympathetically renovated with all the rooms having an individual look. The breakfast was good and the dinner tasty, although the menu was limited. There is a good selection of local wines.

Antonia and Jorse are special people, running a special hotel with passion. It is a small hotel, and it means you get special treatment. We stayed in the Sombira room, and we believe it was worth the little extra. We had the romantic couples package, and highly recommend it. Apart from covering the dinners, which are extremely good, it also included a wine tour at the very special vineyard of Mas Sinen, hosted by the owner and winemaker Salvador Burgos. The tour takes about 3 hours, filled with the passionate talk of Salvador on how the grapes are grown and the wine is made. Some of the best wine we ever tasted! Back to the hotel: it is small, in a small town, but it makes you feel welcome, and almost part of the locals, after just a couple of says.

a fantastic 3 stars with a 5 stars quality in service, attention to details, decor, warmth and facilities. Great rooms, with light, nice bathrooms, perfect in many ways. There are only 7 rooms, one of this the only adapted for disabled people room in the whole area, and each one covers the needs of each taste. Friendly with kids, very quiet and with such an atmosphere you wish you could live there. Antonia and Jordi have built, designed and manage the best spot to stay. Unmissable

Friendly owners/managers always ready to help. The facilities are great for an old village house renovated, better than we expected. And it keeps some very interesting details, like the old tank and water distribution system. Attention also to the forged works in stairs, railings, balconies and other decorative details. There is no restaurant but they cook for the guests (you need to book the same day), and it is truly worth staying for dinner: good fresh produce very well cooked. In addition, the wine list while not exceptional is a good summary of the wines in the area. I want to return!

Our stay at this gem of a hotel was fabulous. Antonia and Jordi have created a special place. Their recommendations on our day's itinerary were perfect. Breakfast and dinner were not to be missed as Antonia is no stranger to the kitchen! We will definitely be back!
