Stayed here on a Groupon deal and from the moment we booked our stay Ali the owner was very helpful and accommodating (excuse the pun!) as we had to cancel our first booking due to personal circumstances. On arrival, where we were impressed by the friendly welcome, after unpacking, we went down to the airy and welcoming bar for complementary tea and cake by the fire ...and met Inka the dog! Dinner on both nights was good and wholesome and, with the specials board, there was a good variety of choice bearing in mind the size of the hotel. As with most of the staff, the young lady serving in the evening was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was just right. The gym and swimming pool are top notch for this type of hotel and the hot tub outside was great. Very impressed by the hotel and what Ali and Jo are trying to do...especially with the relaxed ambience of the place...witness how easy it was to drop into conversation with fellow guests and locals alike in the bar. Given that Ali and Jo only took over in November 2013, we wish them good luck as they go forward. We had a very relaxing and comfortable stay and will be back and would recommend staying here to anyone ...unless you want stuffiness and formality :0).

We have just spent 2 nights at this hotel courtesy of my Daughter for Christmas.
When we arrived Ali the owner showed us to our room which was excellent, it was an apartment with sitting area, large tv, dining table and chairs and a small kitchen with microwave , toaster etc. the bedroom was just off of this with another tv, double bed with lovely bed linen. Shower was excellent one of the multi jet ones. He told us when we were settled to come down to the bar for Coffee and cake which we did and were made feel really relaxed where staff and Ali's family were there and chatted away to us. The chef came out and discussed the Menu with us for the evening meal where she recommended the specials on the board. Evening meal was excellent and we sat and had a few drinks where the locals and staff were very friendly. Breakfast was also excellent, full English or whatever you requested and the usual choice of cereals and juices.
We went into town weather wasn't great. Came back and went for a swim and steam room which was great, there is also a gym which is available for use but not really fit for that at the moment, the hot tub is there but weather was to wild to venture into that, but friendly and helpful staff there yet again
We had our evening meal there again and staff were excellent yet again.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend, we would return again as we love the area and hopefully when the weather has picked up see them again soon.

Went for a quiet short break. Booking was made easy as Alistair was very helpful. Made use of the swimming pool and sauna, which was lovely. Weather was very bad so we didn't go out of the hotel much but it is a very good location for exploring the lakes.
The room was nice, and very clean with a nice window box to enjoy the view. The photos on the website didn't do it justice.
The staff were helpful and very friendly, chef was very good. We decided to eat in the hotel the second night too because the food was so good and all seemed to be cooked fresh.
The log fire was burning all the time so we enjoyed a few drinks by the fire.

Lovely relaxing break, lovely staff, lovely food. Shame about the weather, but it is January in the lakes.

We visited the Embleton early January and were very impressed by the customer service we received. Despite the time of year there was still plenty to see and do around the local area and Alistair and the other staff were quite happy to give advice as to where to visit and where was good to eat in the local area. The restaurant at the hotel was very nice; breakfast was cooked to order and there was plenty of variety which also went for the evening meals. We didn't quite get enough time to visit the spa but the room itself was very nice; all be it a couple of cosmetic faults but nothing which spoiled out experience. Wifi signal was also very good and we felt staff really did seem interested in feedback and how to make our experience better. it was a very enjoyable stay and we would highly recommend a visit here.

We stayed for two nights with two children (7 and 4) in the Buttermere Room. The hotel is situated in a stunning location with beautiful views. The staff were very welcoming and the atmosphere was very relaxed. Our boys thoroughly enjoyed the pool and are already asking to return! In the evening, after a very nice dip in the pool, we ordered a bottle of red, along with the cheeseboard, and sat infront of the roaring fire. Our boys drank a hot chocolate each and happily sat in the lounge - we were all made to feel very welcome. Thanks for a memorable stay- we had some quality family time and came home very relaxed. Hope to see you again soon.
