We picked this hotel for our honeymoon for a few good reasons.
1) Location - This was perfect for my dialysis treatment and for our day trips around the area.
2) Spa - we wanted to relax (we were on honeymoon after all) and Embleton Spa offered an excellent on site massage service and swimming pool & steam room.
3) Restaurant - this was excellent, the food was very very nice and nothing was too much trouble to do. The breakfast was equally nice, and well cooked.

On top of this the staff were all so welcoming, helpful and very knowledgable about the area which made our trip easier and meant we could plan our time away in the best way.

The manager Ally, was a gentleman, warm, funny and helpful - it was the personal touch he had that you do not get in big chains and this is why we had such a good time and will be coming back.

We have just returned from a lovely mini break at this very relaxing and stress free hotel. Having booked via Wowcher we didn't really know what to expect but we were not at all disappointed. The welcoming reception we got on arrival put us at our ease and then we were shown to our room which was very clean and also had a very good ensuite. We had enough room for hanging our clothes for the two nights we were there but maybe could have done with more if we had been staying any longer. The food was excellent and the welcome from all the staff we encountered was extremely good. The hotel is situated in a most glorious position and to reiterate I cant say enough about how helpful the staff were. We would certainly thoroughly recommend the lovely hotel.

This hotel is just lovely. Myself and my partner decided on a weekend getaway and decided to come to the embleton spa hotel. It feels secluded and peaceful in it's location although it's a quick drive to Keswick and lots of things to explore around it. The staff are wonderful and nothing's to difficult for them. The rooms are lovely and the beds are extremely comfy! Nice breakfast and a decent choice provided. Although we didn't use the facilities they look good. All round lovely stay :)

We have just spent a few days in a hotel with a beautiful setting. With the weather being so lovely we were able to enjoy our cappuccinos ( or wine) relaxing on a terrace overlooking some fabulous views.
The spa facilities were a very welcome addition especially the pool for the children and the What bike for my energetic husband!!!
The customer care was spot on and Alistair the new owner and Margaret( second in command) being front of house were welcoming and very professional.
The little touches with local produce and toiletries were appreciated.
The food was delicious and waiters and waitresses very friendly and accomodating.
Overall a great place to disapear and enjoy a peaceful few days.

Room Tip: We stayed in a family room Skiddaw which includes a terrace and very spacious.

Had a fab time, food brilliant, staff so very nice, everyone of them, swimming pool nice and warm, didn't manage the hot tub but will catch it next time as we will definitely be back.Visited Carlisle, Workington , Windermere all the places in between, Cockermouth is a lovely place, nice shops and bars, restaurants. Thoroughly recommend it, even went walking and there are plenty of short and long walks.

Room Tip: We had a room to the front and it had beautiful views

We've booked two nights at the Embleton as the second leg of our Lake District holidays. The location is great - only a short hop away from great walks in and around Buttermere and Keswick.
The views are stunning too, so top marks on location.
We have been upgraded to a family room, which was great in principle. However, the room looked as if it has been "patched up" a little bit carelessly (e.g. carpets, bathroom fixtures, very cheap and uncomfortable pillows etc).
While the lady (the owner?) greeting us and serving us for parts of our stay was very friendly and helpful, we experienced some clueless staff on the first night at dinner (just pointing to the wine bottles when I asked which wines they serve...) and a very unfriendly lady on the first morning at breakfast (what do you want for breakfast?).

I think little things could make the Embleton much better - more customer-focussed staff, and also while our beds where made and we had fresh glasses, the bathroom has clearly not been cleaned after our first night.

The prices are very good, and as mentioned, so is the location. I think it would be fairly easy for the Embleton to become top choice!

The first impression was amazing! - great rooms, great views, space...
However, our much awaited fmaily vacation went downhill due to a few little things:
- we clearly indicated that we'll be 6, but there were beds enough only for 5. My daughter compalined that she was cold the whole night as the blanket was too small.
- children were looking forward to the swimming pool, but it is on quite a tight schedule and they could enjoy it only at a specific time.
- what was worse though is the fact that when we wanted to try out the jacuzzi/shower, the water was barely warm ( probably a reflection of too many people using hot water at that specific hour?)...so no spa for us
- we had to wait for our dinner to arrive for more than an hour, which is probably OK in an adult world, but our children certainly did not appreciate that.
- I had to wait 30 minutes to check out

All in all, we would have absolutely loved it IF not for seemingly little things that matter.....
