Being a burger fan I was a little unsure of the chef's promises and he did turn out to be wrong. Well only if modesty is a wrong doing.
The sliders were awesome and better than the wonderful buggers that used to be sold at Millthorpe. They are only on the specials board and that changes regularly so good luck

Booked for Sunday lunch for four of us. Good job we did as it was busy. The restaurant is cosy and compact so space is at a premium. We had roast beef, roast pork and the steak and ale pie. All very generously portioned and freshly cooked. A busy day previously meant not everything on the menu was available including the sticky toffee pudding but the Bakewell tart was a good substitute.
Very friendly and efficient service and all very reasonably priced.
Disabled access is ok. Level access into the pub and toilets on the same level. Good sized car park with designated disabled spaces.

Many thanks for your kind review, the team is very happy to hear that you enjoyed your visit with us. Apologies for running out of the sticky toffee pudding, as you stated everything is home made and fresh so unfortunately we do sometimes run out of the odd dish. I'm very glad that you found a suitable alternative. We look forward to seeing you again soon, regards, Matt

Called on Sunday at 1:30. Excellent choice of proper home made pub grub, 1 roast beef and 1 cajun chicken later and two very happy people. Really this is what country pubs should be like. good attentive service and tasty food.
Great chef and a landlord with the right direction and attitude. Just need someone to sort out the weather;-)

We popped in here on the off chance after a wet days walking in Baslow. All the staff were really friendly and a lovely Green King IPA, along with the cosy, traditional bar area soon warmed us through. The menu is not extensive, but good pub fare. I ordered fish and chips, my friend bangers and mash. Both were promptly served and well presented. Large portions and delicious!! With both costing under a tenner good value too.

We visited the Bridge Inn on Bank Holiday Monday at the beginning of May and were impressed with what we found - a quiet village pub in a pleasant area next to a ford, with plenty of outdoor seating.
The welcome we received was very friendly and the service was great throughout, from those taking our orders and the waiter working very hard to get all of the meals out to the garden quickly.
There were a couple of local ales on tap and very reasonably priced.
However, the biggest thumbs up goes to the food - we paid under £20 per head for two good-sized courses and they were delicious. Everybody in our party went for the steak and ale pie and we were glad we did - really tender meat and great pastry, served with plenty of well-cooked chips. The range of starters were also well received. Desserts looked promising from what we saw but we were all too full to go for any!
Calver is only a stone's throw from Bakewell and Patey Gorge so plenty of options available for anybody wanting to waddle off lunch (as we did) or work up an appetite.
We arrived early as the pub was opening, but it filled up while we were there, so I'd recommend making a table booking if there are going to be a few of you. Next time we're in the area, we will certainly return!
