Thank you Marco! If you want more than just a walking tour Marco Pontuali is your guy for Roman attractions. First, Marco is a gentleman and very accommodating. He was professional and gracious...no awkward moments. Second, Marco not only has professorial knowledge of Roman history, he was able to give fun historical details that you will not find in text books or placards. Third, although I'm sure that all tour operators provide their clients with ticket purchases and special access, we observed Marco to be well liked and well respected by the guards and staff as we moved through each attraction.

First time visitors to Rome, had Friday late evening, all day Saturday, and half day Sunday. Marco is charming, quick witted and has vast knowledge of The Eternal City. Night time tour of The Vatican was amazing, mostly foot tour (with the exception of one quick taxi ride) during the weekend. Be sure to ask Marco about the story behind the lower right portion of the Sistine Chapel. Amazing stories about Michelangelo, various Popes, Napolean etc. Also learned the Italian way of crossing busy streets when no light at crosswalk. Excellent recommendations for meals, souvenier shops etc.Our group consisted of nine, four adults, four teenagers, and a twelve year old. Missed the long lines at the Colosseum, missed the outrageous "con" the gladiators pull on unsuspecting tourists regarding photo's, etc.. Marco had great insights into the architecture of various buildings, including The Pantheon, and details of the marble salvage operations of The Vatican. Underground tours and the layers of different periods of Rome unearthed where the river flooding altered the land. We pushed at a quick pace, but Marco kept things light and entertaining, and we hit most if not all of the first time tourist hotspots. It seems every statue and monument had a story inscripted on it, and Marco was an amazing translator. Definitely would recommend Marco for anyone looking for a good walking tour of Rome. Marco also provided great assistance in our travels getting to Rome, as we ran into some transportation hiccups along the way. Thanks again Marco.

We recently returned from a 2 week family vacation to Europe. While in Rome, Marco was our tour guide and by far that experience was the highlight of our European vacation. We traveled as a family of 9 including 4 children. Marco was so accommodating, informative and entertaining for all of us. We toured 3 days with him seeing the highlights of the Eternal City. His planning time and knowledge were superb. We thoroughly enjoyed all the details and anecdotes that Marco provided. Prior to our trip, we were concerned that the younger children would be overwhelmed with the tour format and underwhelmed with the glory of the history of Rome. However, Marco had the unique ability to connect with the children as well as the adults making the tours unforgettable and enjoyable for all. As a matter of fact, our seven year old as been listing his recently learned Roman facts to his hometown friends. This is proof that he really paid attention to Marco's interesting conversations. We left Rome having made a new friendship. We highly recommend Marco's tours. It is the only way to see Rome!

We were thrilled with Marco Pontuali's services as a guide. We were a family of 6 which included 3 children. He was considerate at all times with the children's needs, without frustration while he kept us all engaged with excellent and factually correct and interesting descriptions of where we were and what we were seeing. He would speak to adults and children equally with respect and provide reference points of interest. He was always prompt, courteous and helpful even amending with our consent, any itinerary for more strategic enjoyment and little or no wait lines. We went on at least 5 different tours suggested by him which were all interesting and marvellous. He even assisted us on a rainy morning, finding inexpensive umbrellas and taking us to an excellent coffee shop for refreshments. He also assisted in finding us a professional vehicle and driver. We strongly recommend Marco Pontuali both for corporate, executive tours and for vacation tours of Rome. Thank you Marco. We looked forward to seeing you.

I recently visited Rome for three days after a Mediterranean cruise, and my travel agent highly recommended that I tour with Marco. Marco picked me up at Civitavecchia, and we toured through the countryside into Rome. He pointed out the sites along the way; and we toured several small towns, Lake Bracciano, and Castello Orsini Odescalchi. Marco is very knowledgeable about the history, architecture, and hidden gems of the area. We also did a panoramic driving tour upon our arrival in Rome. I spent the next two days with Marco visiting the "must sees" of Rome including the Colosseum, the Roman Forum, the Pantheon, several stunning churches, lovely squares and fountains, and the hidden treasures in between. It was like travelling back in time with Marco making the history come alive with his excellent narrative, amazing level of detail and knowledge, and very charming personality. A special highlight was our evening tour of the Vatican Museum--which was simply breathtaking. Before our tour of the Sistine Chapel, Marco presented a mini course in art history providing a very detailed preview of what we were about to see. I was in Rome the week that two Popes were canonized, and the crowds were astounding. Marco was able to navigate the crowds and to avoid the extremely long lines at every attraction. Rome was spectacular, and Marco was amazing! (And Marco can provide the same level of detail in each of the seven languages he speaks.) I will definitely call upon Marco to help arrange my next tour in Italy.
