Van der Valk Hotel Nazareth-Gent

Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

Ine of the many Van der Valk hotels in the Netherlands and Belgium.
Rooms are big. Beds are good. Spacious bathroom. My room had a door to a little terrace. All rooms on the ground floor have this.
Breakfast is included in the price.

Just a good hotel that's worth the money.

This hotel is part of the Van der Valk chain; a chain of value for money hotels. The hotel is very nice, with also a reasonably priced, good quality restaurant. Nothing fancy, but a good place to be. The hotel is located along the highway, nearby Gent and Bruges. The rooms are well isolated, so no noise from the highway. The staff is very friendly, and provides good service. The hotel has Wifi, and lots of free parking space.

Decent hotel for an overnight stay next to the highway. The enterance section is new but the part with the rooms is old. You can see there has been work done to make it appear more modern but you can notice it is just make up. Rooms are basic and quite big, I was in a room looking at the park, not the highway. Thre was a small balcony but nothing special.

Room Tip: Try to get a room turned away from the highway, these end with odd numbers

A typical hotel along the highway, but as it is often at Valk Hotels, cozy, good food and sleep for less than a normal price. The staff is very nice (Belgian) and really take the time for visitors to the hotel. Especially the receptionist is a real front liner, compliments of our group

We stayed here one night on a city trip to Gent - since we decided to go last-minute, all reasonably priced places in the city were already booked so this was just an emergency solution, but it turned out as a pleasant surprise. We got a room facing the woods, with birds chirping in the morning, which is amazing considering that you're right next to the motorway! The room was nicely furnished, spacious, with an amazingly comfortable bed. The reception staff was very friendly as well. The only minus was that getting back on the motorway in the direction of Gent took us ages because of roadworks and very unclear road signs - but that has nothing to do with the hotel itself.

This hotel offers excellent value for money. Don't know how they manage to keep the prices so reasonable - I guess it must be because the location (right on the main motorway between Gent and Kortrijk) means that they have no trouble filling the rooms. The rooms are very large and modern, with a couple of large and comfortable armchairs in addition to the bed, large private balcony (or patio for groundfloor rooms), and large bathroom with both a shower and a separate, large bathtub. Rooms facing the motorway usually cost about €75 and about €80 for rooms facing the forest. The slightly higher charge for the forest-facing rooms is worth it as there is less traffic noise that side and the view is nicer. Adjoining restaurant is fairly pricey but the choice varied and the food pretty good. Good breakfast buffet (extra charge).
Will defintely stay there again.

Room Tip: forest-facing rooms are quieter than those facing the motorway although they cost slightly more.

The hotel is just by the highway near the gas station, so my expectations were mixed. After the stay, I would go back again if I need a good rest in the neighborhood. My room was silent despite the location, and the bed was comfortable. The big surprise was the quality dinner. There is not much to do nearby, but if you want to rest and sleep, this is a good choice. Furniture and design are outdated, but the place is clean.
