I have high standards so this might seem to be a harsh score. This a great B & B. Located just south of Matlock. No traffic noise and clean well equipped rooms. We had a warm welcome from the staff and the pub was very popular with locals. The food quality was good with a fair choice at a fair price and the real ale suited my partner. We would eat again here even if we were not staying in the area. There was live music on when we stayed. The location is great for walking and cycling without being totally off the beaten track if you want to reach the more livlier Matlock. It is ideal for a short break. If i had a crtisim it was the roll together bed and the room was small. It was good value for money and like I say it was clean with ample room to park the car.

This is a great pub with a welcoming atmosphere and very clearly at the heart of a small community. Just for the love of god don"t eat there. We ordered standard pub fare of Scampi and Beer Battered Fish. It was immediately apparent that the fryer had not reached the optimum temperature to effectively cook food as what served up to us was fat soaked mush. The chef also pulled off the trick of making the fish devoid of any taste. Bewildering at best.

Found this lovely pub half way through our walk. Had excellent lunch and sat outside in glorious sunshine. Food excellent and my partner says so was the real ale! What I liked was that although we were obviously tourists they allowed us a tab without having to leave your card behind the bar, something we're not used too, even in our local area at home! it makes all the difference, we felt really welcomed. Thank you. Got talking to a lovely group from the caravan site near by and ended up on a longer lunch break! good job its summer and light evenings! really enjoyed it.

Booked B&B to stay when we came to Lea for a freind's birthday celebration. Enjoyed a few beers in the bar before moving on and Jez was very forgiving when we rang him at a quarter to one in the morning because our key wouldn't fit either the front or back doors.( There is a third tucked further 'round the back!). Room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The shower nails you to the floor.

Breakfast was good with cereal, fruit juice, and a fry-up on offer. I glanced at the bar/ restaurant menu and the food on offer looked interesting and reasonably priced, at least from a southerner's perspective. Perhaps I'll try some when I go back!
