“The Hayloft”
Reviewed 18 October 2013

My partner and I stayed in The Hayloft which was a large two bedroom spacious apartment with a well equipped kitchen, each bedroom was ensuite. The apartment can be accessed via an external spiral staircase. The owner Penny was lovely and very accommodating and had two or maybe three very well behaved dogs, very cute! The Victorian Barns are set in beautiful and peaceful surroundings. It also has a swimming pool, hot tub, laundry facilities and a small gym as well as a children's play area. If you're looking for some quiet time away from all the hustle and bustle of city life I would recommend.

Room Tip: The Victorian Barns is set on a working farm so you can have a problem with flies in the warm weathe...

many thanks to Penny , we were two families (4 adults 3 kids under 6)
very clean and spacious , the property is immaculate , surroundings/locations is stunning.
the kids couldn't get enough of the play area and swimming pool , and as previous comments fell in love with katie the jack russell
we would definately recommend to anyone , and would look to book again.
the only criticism i have is that in Helena house you need a bigger tv in that massive lounge !!!

Had a fantastic week at the Stable. Which was a last minute booking. Beautiful and clean accommodation for the four of us (children aged 15 & 11). It was great to have the sun room at the back which had the dining table, such amazing views towards the lakes and Bulbarrow Hill which was lovely to sit in. We used the pool and gym at least once a day! And plenty of outdoor space for the children to play and walk. We loved Katie and Jaz the dogs. Fantastic pub in Surminster Newton which we went to on the first night. It was great to have Penny available if necessary.

Thank you for taking the time to write such lovely comments after your recent stay with us.

The Stable is a great property with even better views as you said. Where else can you watch cows calving just outside your window and also uninterrupted beautiful countryside.

We look forward to welcoming you back again in the future.

Kind Regards

Booked a last minute deal with Penny directly and the price reflected good value for money. Have got to say we read a couple of the negative reviews here and disagree with them! The accommodation was great and to a good specification, location was beautiful ( although you will need a car to get around). We found the facilities were very good and useful on the odd cloudy day (pool was perfect as very quiet). Penny was very approachable and helpful. We are thinking about booking for next year.

Room Tip: Helena House was great

We spent 8 days at the Hayloft. We found the accommodation great- clean, spacious and well equipped. We loved the facilities, we used the indoor pool, sauna and hottub every day. Our son took a great shine to Katie the dog and especially enjoyed the lovely walk with her and Penny (the owner) on the last day.

We would definitely recommend it.

Room Tip: The Hayloft is accessed via a spiral staircase, so probably not suitable for very young children or...

Thank you for taking the time to write some kind words after your stay with us last week.

When you come next time you will have to try some different footpath walks, you can take Katy if you like she knows them all.

We very much look forward to welcoming you again in the future.

So pleased to hear that you and your family group enjoyed your stay with us. The weather was wonderful and I certainly know the younger members of your group enjoyed themselves using the facilities.

The outdoor dining under the stars must have been a real bonus.

We look forward to welcoming you and your party again sometime in the future.

Stayed in The Granary. Penny is fab - loads of advice, very friendly as too is Katie the dog.
Accommodation is very good, well equipped, clean and spacious.
3 fishing lakes you can use during your stay which were a great attraction for our 9 year old son.
Very peaceful location - literally in the middle of nowhere, but ideal for enjoying the birds and appreciating the countryside around you.
A big plus for us was the indoor pool which we used everyday.
Penny & her husband definitely have the most photogenic calves we have ever seen, stunning sunsets and beautiful flora and fauna. Heaven for a photographer, what ever level of skill.
A great base for exploring the Dorset coast but it is an hours drive. A very pretty drive it has to be said. Ideal location for days exploring Weymouth, then Lyme Regis (kids loved the fossilling), Poole, New Forest, Brownsea Island
Would definitely recommend to families and couple.

Thank you for your kind comments and the lovely pictures.

The views are beautiful and you were lucky to find such a clear day. From the top of Bulbarrow Hill, where you shot the pictures, on a clear day you can sometimes see 6 counties. The bluebells are just going over now but they have been a picture.
The goslings in the photograph are growing like mad now and it is a job to see the difference between the parents and the young. We have lots more calves born since you stayed and the weather has been great for their arrival. Another calf due tonight so at 2am Derek will be down the farm buildings with torch to assist. Hopefully the mother will manage on her own.

In Park lake the fish have been spawning and Oak lake (the specimen lake) is just about to start. Lots more fish to come.

Thanks again for taking the time to write a review and we look forward to welcoming you again sometime in the future.

Regards
