“Can't wait to go back”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014 via mobile

Just got back from a wonderful 5 days in The Byre at the Victorian Barn. It was really great in every way - the setting, the welcome, a wonderfully warm pool, a good gym, excellent views and local walks, the games room, the hot tub. Our kids were so happy - and they fell in love with Katy the dog! Hope to come back and will recommend to others

Me and a group of friends stayed at the victorian barn for a weekend on the 7th march weekend. The whole experience was a amazing experience from the dining in the victoria suite lounge to the relaxing in the hot tub at any time of the day or late evening. The assisstance from penny and co operation was excellent and made the break a much relaxed and stress free weekend. I would definitely recommend the victorian barn for a relaxing luxurious weekend away in the countryside.

This was our first visit to the Victorian Barn and hopefully there will be many more visits. The cottage was spotless and very well equipped. The children enjoyed the swimming pool and adults enjoyed the hot tub. In all it was a very relaxing weekend and Penny was very helpful.

Wow, wow & just one more wow. We (wife, 3 kids aged 11, 9 & 10months) had been in Chatham (Kent) from Bristol and had stayed in the Holiday Inn for Christmas whilst seeing family there. 5 days later we checked out and made a 4 hour trip to Dorset. From Holiday Inn to The Victorian Barn? Massive transformation to another level.

We arrived Victoria Barn at night, as we drove in, we all WOKE up from tiredness. The environment, the peace and fresh air – heaven on earth. When we opened the door of the cottage we entered into opulence. We entered into a well kept, maintained and updated house. Everything is exactly as the pictures on the website. How they maintain the cleanliness is beyond me. It’s like the place is re-painted and re-beautified after every visit. Lol. It was all so new and fresh.

Next day we walked around the grounds, farms, lake and went to a local shop. The pool was heated. Sauna nice and clean. Changing rooms and lockers clean/available. Loads of parking spaces. Play area for kids or entire family outdoors.

All I can say is God bless my sister (Tola) for booking / organising our break and taking us to the unknown. We went by Faith not knowing what to expect. We encountered paradise. A place for healing. A place for reflection. A place to relax, rest and plan your future. Also a place to go for long, healthy walks and be active if you so desire. A place to bond with family.

The owners were available 24/7. Very humble and simple couple. Their wisdom and spirit filled love was so obvious from miles away. Please let me know when you are on the stock market so I can buy some shares. Lol.

We are going back by His Grace.
Blessings.

Room Tip: Perfect central heating so do reduce or turn off 30 minutes before bed time else room will be too ho...

I booked this place without having any clue of what to expect. It was a family(3 Families) get away for the first time and we made the trip on Saturday 28th Dec, it was a rainy day and the journey took much longer. After each family had gone through a 4 to 5 hrs (instead of 2 1/2hrs) trip to Victoria barn, we just wanted to get some rest. The minute we stepped into the Beatrice house we loved it. We forgot about the hard journey and just enjoyed every thing about the place. I met the owners Penny and her husband, a very simple and charming couple, with a genuine and warm smile, that made one feel really welcome.

On the morning of the departure, Penny's husband (Dick or Rick......can't remember), asked if we had a nice time, and said hopefully the weather would be better the next time we returned.

At this point I should have said with or without the rain, we'll be back.
If you ever find yourself trapped indoors on holiday due to bad weather, if this is Beatrice house, in the Victoria barn, in Dorset, then don't worry, you can still have a nice time away from home.

Room Tip: The Beatrice house is located on the left side of the barn when you come in from the main entrance...

Happy New Year to you all. 2013 out and 2014 in.........

Hello from another rainy day at The Victorian Barn. It does not always rain in Dorset and the west country but we seem to have had our fair share as most of the country seems to be experiencing.

Thank you for your kind comments, both Derek and myself are very pleased you enjoyed your stay with us. Beatrice House was ideal for your get together, it seems to be one of the most popular houses for these occasions offering a very spacious lounge.

We both very much look forward to hearing from you again with a view to staying again and perhaps it may be better weather.

Kind regards and best wishes from

Penny and husband (Derek)

This was our 2nd family visit to the Victorian Barn, we celebrated our wedding there 2 yrs ago and decided that it was the perfect place to celebrate an early Xmas with the family. We stayed in Leopold and Helena which were perfectly suited to hold the 13 adults and 2 children. The barn is lovely, views are amazing and the rooms are spacious and wonderfully clean. The beds are super comfy and everyone had a brilliant nights sleep on both nights. Penny was kind enough to open up the pool and gym a little early to accommodate us and we had a great time swimming and relaxing in the sauna. My niece and nephew loved the play area especially the trampoline even in the rain. The adults were overjoyed with the discovery of the hot tub, even better in the freezing cold and sleety rain, made it all the more special. The setting is beautiful and there is plenty to do in a short journey. Another fabulous visit to the barn, we will definitely be back again

Back home from an Amazing long weekend with the whole family(32). This is something we have done for may years and this weekend was definitely the best. Victorian Barn is set in beautiful surroundings, with walks, bike riding, pubs and Restaurants all close by. We stayed in the Helena House, Leopold House, The Byre, The Hayloft and The Victorian Suite. This was perfect for the large family that we are. Each family had there own house and enough space in each Lounge to be able to meet up for drinks and Presents. With many small children the park and Swimming facilities offered us adults piece of mind and 5 minutes piece and quiet.
The staff were all very helpful and on hand for any questions we had. We all recommend staying at the Victorian Barn and We are already preparing for next Year
Thank you for a wonderful Family Weekend.

Room Tip: Go and look round first. The pictures help but you get more ideas of space when you get there. Most...
