“Great visit to Los Buzos”
Reviewed 2 January 2013

My family of 5 stayed in one of the villas at Los Buzos and we cannot say enough nice things about the resort and about Ron and Jen's hospitality. The accomodations are very spacious and well- appointed and the view is spectacular. Ron's meals are fantastic -- I still remember his blackened tuna. He makes excellent breakfasts, too. The beach is lovely and Los Buzos is simply the best. Make your way to Cambutal!

I am not what you call a food lover but this has got to be the first time I would go back to a hotel for the food! What a team. Bob does all the cooking, & when he gets the chance Fishing, otherwise he relies on his local fishing buddies for the days catch! Then he cooks it to perfection! His wife Jen, is queen of the puddings, her carrot cake is delicious! Although we didn't get a chance to fish this is one of the best places to do so, Bob has all the kit, & many hotel guests were partaking.
The accommodation in the villas is unusually BIG, uncluttered & with large comfy settees from which there are great views from your big terrace overlooking the sea! They all have well equipped kitchens even by Mr P's standards. Your pool is the Pacific Ocean which is on your doorstep!
For me wifi is imperative and there is a good signal at reception & BOB is sorting extending the range to all the villas.
Cambutal is magical only one word of warning paradise is not stocked with anything girlie so make sure you bring everything you can't do without! There are even something's that the forever accommodating JEN hasn't got a stock of that she can lend!

We have stayed at Los Buzos twice now and would highly recommend it to anyone travelling the Pacific side of Panama. Cambutal is a nice quiet peublo community with long beautiful beaches, great surf & fishing, and an all around peaceful place to unwind. We checked out some other resorts, but found Los Buzos to have everything we were looking for - great family size dwellings, minimal bugs, amazing food! (I can't stress that enough!) and a friendly welcoming environment. For those of you looking for eco-minded establishments - Los Buzos helped us host a beach clean-up & clean water education day with the local school. Ron, Jen & family - thanks for a great getaway :)

Room Tip: Many options to accomodate both group size & travel budget

We only stayed one night in one of the cabañas (very basic but we were there really to just hit the beach). All I have to say is how wonderful the staff was and how welcoming they were. I will echo another reviewer's sentiment about Ron's breakfast! Very tasty!! We also had dinner there and the enchiladas were very good! The portions are very "Americano" so you won't have to go somewhere else to eat. The cabañas where literally across the street from the beach and we could walk there and be in the water in literally minutes. Ron was nice enough to show me the houses up on the hill and wow, I WILL stay in one of those next time I come! The view is spectacular!! Imagine a view from Laguna Beach, CA from a house on the hill, but just more "tropical" of course. Just WOW! This is a hidden gem on the Azuero Peninsula in Panama! Nice beach and a great place to stay!

I highly recommend staying at one of the houses @ Los Buzos. Camubtal is off the beaten path but the staff make you feel welcome there. I stayed with 2 of my friends in one of the 8 available houses (I think there's 8 of them). There was a full kitchen, 2 big bedrooms, 2 big bathrooms, and a nice family room. Although there were only 3 of us, the house could have easily fit 7. The best part of the house was the back porch. All of the houses are on a hill and the back porches overlook a fun right hand point break which was a 20 minute walk from our place. If you are older or don't like to walk, try getting one of the houses closer to the bottom of the hill. There are 3 other good surf spots within walking distance of Los Buzos which can hold waves of large size comparable to Santa Catalina (minus the crowd of Catalina). At the bottom of the hill is the towns only road with a few restaurants/bars within walking distance.

If you are traveling with a bigger group, this is the place to stay in Cambutal. The price is fair. There's a market a half hour walk down the street or you can buy your meals from Ron (I recommend his breakfast).

Unfortunately, there was a storm when we were there and the power went out for 24 hours. However, Brad was quick to give us flashlights, candles, and matches.

If planning a surf trip to Panama, don't follow the sheep and stay at Santa Catalina. Do some exploring and be sure to hit Cambutal for a few days.

I spent a week at Los Buzos with friends during a summer break in graduate school. A few hours outside of Panama City, it was the perfect antidote after a full year in Atlanta. The fishing and scenery were enough to keep me occupied, and the hospitality was fantastic. It was a great escape, and a great way to recharge my batteries. Highly recommended.
