“Let down by breakfast”
Reviewed 26 November 2013 via mobile

Quamby is a beautiful historical homestead in a wonderful setting but why, in a State which prides itself of fresh produce, did breakfast consist of stale pastries, packet type cereal (Coco Pops?!), white bread for toast and worst of all pre packaged Kraft jams , peanut butter and vegemite? How about some local bread, local cheeses, local jams and honey and by the way some fresh fruit would have been nice. This seems to be the Australian way but surely Tassie could do better!

Dear Peter,

Thank you for taking the time to review our property. We value every guest opinion and agree Quamby is a beautiful homestead.

We pride ourselves on using local Tasmanian produce and bake our homemade breads and danishes daily. We regularly receive compliments on our continental breakfast so it is disappointing that you found it inadequate. I have highlighted the areas on the menu which are local to clarify areas of confusion.

Our continental breakfast consists of:

Stewed Rhubarb - grown and prepared at Quamby Local poached pears, peaches and apricots prepared by our chef Freshly bread baked prepared daily by our chef Freshly baked mixed danishes and croissants prepared daily by our chef Fresh local yoghurt Bircher Muesli prepared daily by our chef Cereals including toasted muesli, Kelloggs Just Right, Nutri-grain and Weet Bix served in glass dispensers. We do not serve Coco Pops.
Bowl of seasonal fresh fruit
Local apple and orange juice

Our condiments are offered to suit a variety of tastes. Whilst we appreciate that spreads such as vegemite might appeal to you it is certainly a popular breakfast item in many Australian homes and is served to ensure guests feel as though Quamby is their home away from home.

We also provide our own self drive gourmet tour allowing guests to experience the best of Tasmania’s gourmet cuisine. The tours allows guests to spend the day getting first hand knowledge of local salmon, cheeses, chocolates, raspberries and wine. In the evening they experience Quamby Estate’s Hunter and Gatherer three-course dinner with a menu that showcases the local produce from the local suppliers they visited that day. Please feel free to view this online: https://www.thebookingbutton.com.au/properties/quambydirect

I hope this has offered some clarity regarding the complimentary breakfast we offer and our support of Tasmania's local produce.

Warm regards,

Nelson

My husband and I recently got married at Quamby estate and stayed at the homestead for 2 nights with all of our family and bridal party. The accommodation is warm and stylish and the staff were helpful, friendly and flexible. The weather was unfortunately not on our side over the two days that we stayed at the estate however the staff always had the fireplaces going and lots of nice candles to create a great ambience.

I would highly recommend staying at Quamby, whether it is for a getaway or for a wedding. We had our wedding here and stayed for 2 nights. The service and accommodation was superb.
Everyone was so friendly and willing to help out with any request we had. Food and wine was also great!
Our wedding co-coordinator Jo was super accommodating and friendly and we couldn't have made our day what it was without her help!
I cant wait to come back to Tassie to stay here again.

Room Tip: Deluxe rooms are the way to go, even though all the rooms are beautiful, why not indulge in a bit mo...

I highly recommend you visit this gorgeous estate. We attended a family wedding and I was extremely impressed with the entire venue from the time we arrived to when we left. In fact, the Manager personally called me before we arrived to confirm an early check in so we could settle our children into our room before the ceremony. That's service! The staff were amazing and accommodated our two small children by making up a large sofa bed in the adjoining room to our suite. The homestead has been immaculately restored and maintained with antique furniture throughout and has a warm welcoming feel as soon as you enter the front door. The grounds are very well manicured and the views to the distant hills are so picturesque. It just kept getting better as the food at the reception was superb. Every course was sublime. I have not stopped talking about this venue since our return and have vowed to go back with my husband as a treat or for our anniversary.

Room Tip: We had Room # 10 - fantastic; had an adjoining 'retreat/sitting room' with another TV, mini...

Recently we got married at the beautiful Quamby Estate. My husband, myself and all of our family and friends were amazed and happy with this beautiful location, the amazing staff made our day perfect. Nothing was too much to ask and we were treated perfectly. All the comments from all our guests from the night were positive and kept saying what a fabulous wedding it was, I put a lot of this down to the fabulous staff and organizing by Jo and all the team there. The beautiful homestead and accomodation services topped the night off. We would totally recommend Quamby Estate to anyone thinking of having their wedding here or to anyone looking for a fabulous meal or weekend away, you won't be disappointed.

Room Tip: The fabulous staff at Quamby helped me with my room selections which were all fabulous. I would reco...

We stayed at Quamby for one night with our 17 month old and the staff were absolutely fantastic. one of the staff members even entertained our toddler while we had breakfast!

The staff set up a port-a-cot with a cot sheet and blankets which was unexpected and such a thoughtful thing to do.

overall the quality of the service and beauty of the location was superb, we will be back for sure.

Room Tip: room 4 was very comfortable with ample space.

My partner and I stay at Qumaby Estate for a local get away and it was perfect. The estate felt like a home away from home where we were able to enjoy an incredible meal and drinks in the formal dining room, enjoy breakfast in the sun and relax while quietly reading a book next the open fires in the sitting rooms. During our stay the staff were very helpful and were quick to attend to any needs. I will definitely be returning to Quamby Estate and will be recommending to friends and family from interstate and local areas to stay at the Estate.

Room Tip: Room 7 is a beautiful room that has a connecting bathroom. Well worth the money
