“Nice food but bar & food staff very disappointing”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

We went to the squirrel for our evening meal and I must say the young lady serving us had a stinking attitude !

It really wrecked the atmosphere ! It could be a lovely pub as in a lovely location .

She spoke to our group with no respect ... And very sarcastic over basic needs !!

The food was nice but chips greasy and salad was brown.

Could have been so much better without the interjection of such a awful waitress , just proves that the right staff can make or break a place.

Such a shame .... July 2014

“Not blown away but not bad either”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 May 2014

An average pub dining experience. Visited on a Friday lunchtime as the doors opened at 12:00 found us fed and water and back in the car by 12:45 so quite a whirlwind dining experience but lacking in ambience and the feel good factor that makes you want to linger and have that second drink.£23 two starters one main course two drinks. Special of the day was fish and chips for £5.

We opted for a two starters combined to make a main course of fish cake and pate and a ribs and steak main course. Found the ribs poor quality as left many boney splinters in the mouth.

Noticed Wifi password displayed for your use and breakfast dining offer.

Restaurant window overlook public allotments. Would be nice to see evidence that some produce comes from this allotment with it being such a prominent feature when dining.

Generally a tired gloomy décor which would benefit from better lighting and lose the nick knacks which give it a dated look .Also the wine fridge in the restaurant area with left and right labelled on doors seemed odd and stocked with bulk buy value wines added to the low brow experience. Id definitely put that elsewhere.

Would make a nice stop for a summer drink with the play equipment and lawned area for children but not a food destination for us.

Very close to The Mill restaurant and hotel which Id try when next this way to compare.

“Fantastic Mixed Grill!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 22 April 2014

Visited on Thursday evening, which to my delight was Steak Night! We were shown to a table (in front of the window) which looked out onto a lovely rural allotment. We ordered our meals from our tables, I had a mixed grill with Diane sauce, my friend had the same with peppercorn sauce. When the meals arrived I was so shocked at the size! They were huge! The steak was cooked to perfection. We had a lovely evening, which was topped off by the friendliness of Hannah and the general atmosphere inside.

So pleased to have found this stunning place in such a beautiful area. Will definitely be visiting again.
