My husband and I rented the upstairs, one-bedroom unit in April 2016. Upon arrival, owner was friendly, but the upstairs unit was in very poor shape with minimal air conditioning. We were unhappy but decided not to make waves and to stick it out. When we began to cook dinner our first evening, bugs and flies came out from the windowsills and god knows where else. We were horrified. At first we agreed to tough it out for the first night and find something else the next day, but it got so bad we had to leave asap. Owner was working on first floor unit and talked to him about the issues. He apologized, which we appreciated, but just could not stay. We are not difficult or demanding people, just wanted a clean place for a fair price. Please beware if it sounds too good and is too cheap ... you get what you pay for, my friends.
The house rented was nice inside but across a boot yard and a mile to the beach
It was a busy road and nosey
I would never stay there again
House is directly on the beach, which is exactly what we wanted.
The house is small but that didn't bother us much as we prefer to be outside during the day enjoying the sun, sand and water. House is 15 minutes from airport and 30 minutes to Georgetown. It's secluded and you will likely have the beach to yourself nearly the entire stay.
There is a kayak for use. 2 very small restaurants within walking distance. We packed frozen meats and cheeses in a zip up cooler with ice packs and flew them with us from Denver so we cooked/grilled most of our food. Be sure to keep any leftover food scraps to feed to Pablo, the black and brown dog that lives nearby. He is so sweet. (We named him).
Avuel had a car rental ready for us sitting in the driveway as we arrived, and he had a van pick us up from the airport for easy transportation to the house.
Catch a Fire Restaurant for sunset and dinner (they have an outdoor pool too!)
4 C's Excursion for pig tour, Thunderball Grotto, etc.
Water Taxi to Stocking Island to party at Chat N Chill
