This is a lovely guesthouse situated 7 miles from Fort William but feeling a million miles away. Angela and Jon are warm and friendly hosts and always willing to offer advice on where to go and what to see. The bedrooms are comfortable and tasteful and the breakfasts (and evening meals off season) are absolutely fabulous. What makes this place absolutely unique though is the (almost guaranteed) visits from the local Pine Marten family every evening who come to eat the toast and jam put out for them by Jon. To be able to see creatures that don' t exist in other parts of the UK so closely is a joy.

Stayed one night whilst walking the GGW. Very helpful and friendly hosts. Unfortunately we were too tired to appreciate the extensive wildlife. The room was perfectly adequate and the bed very comfortable. The breakfast was first class. I would happily recommend this place.

First of I recommend this guest house. It is a at the end of a long one track road that put us of at first but we soon got used to it and the rural location is a plus. Jon the owner obviously cares about wild life in the area and we learnt a lot from him. He also helped us plan an excellent one day trip and provided OS maps for us to use which was a great help.

Two things could have been better. The mattress was uncomfortable. The walls of the rooms are thin so you can here your neighbors. Despite this the pluses outweighed the minuses.

We booked for a 7 day wildlife holiday from 18-25th June - it was a great experience. The welcome from Jon and Angela was warm, the en-suite room was comfortable, the meals were superb, and the company (7 in total in the group) most congenial. Jon had planned a varied programme in order for us to enjoy the variety of insects, reptiles, birds, mammals and flowers of the area, as well as the stunning countryside. Jon's blog for the week on the Glen Loy Wildlife website is a good summary of the week. Highlights for us were certainly the pine marten on the patio, the otters, the minkie whale and the dolphins - closely followed by red squirrels, great auk, black guillemots. Thanks Jon and Angela.

I've stayed at Glenloy Lodge twice now - once on my own in the winter, and once with my extended family in the summer. Both were great times to visit, with stunning views across to the Nevis range. From London you can take the overnight sleeper from Euston, and arrive in Fort William next morning - it's only a 20 minute taxi ride to the lodge, but you really are in the Highlands of Scotland. The owners Angela and Jon offer amazing wildlife tours. I particularly enjoyed getting up close to the small things in life - little plants and animals you'd otherwise miss unless an expert helps you find them. Comfortable rooms - great value - and enormous breakfasts. As other reviewers have said, one of the treats staying here is experiencing the daily visits by the pine martens, but I also loved sitting in the verandah watching all the birds outside. There are several walks you can do directly from the lodge, varying from an easy stroll along the Caledonian canal, to hikes up to peaks with breathaking views.
