“cosy cottage”
Reviewed 29 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

An excellent property, clean, cosy and well equipped.
The cottage is in a good location for visiting places. We enjoyed a day in Skye and another in Inverness where we visited the Culloden Battlefield. Both highly recommended.

A great cottage ... In a fascinating location. Weather was very kindto us and lots of snow on peaks . Loads to do in area for all tastes. Cottage well equipped and warm. No complaints other than our week went to quickly. Supper at the Moorings twice ... Great steak and good service.

We have just spent a great week in the lower Lock keepers cottage. Weather was excellent and the cottage is well placed for lots of interesting day trips. Great to see the steam train go past every morning and canal walkway is good for both walking and cycling. Cottage was great to come back to after a day out and the log fire was great in the evening. This is a great cottage for seeing all that this lovely area has to offer.

We have just spent a really good week at the Lock Keepers (lower deck).
On arrival the cottage was really well presented, very clean with all fresh bedding etc. There was even a supply of consumables- washing up liquid, etc.
Arrival instructions were easy to follow and there were loads of leaflets and information guides.
The weather was surprisingly good so we din't need to light the fire but we imagine that would be very cosy on a cold night.
There is so much to do in the area. A trip on the steam train out to Mallaig is not to be missed, and we also did boat trips on Loch Ness and and evening trip on Loch Eil out of Fort William. The scenery was nothing short of stunning. The nearby Neptunes staircase was so interesting, it surprised me just how large some of the vessels using it were.
We eat at the new Bistro at the Moorings Hotel three times, the food there was really good.
Overall it was a really comfortable cottage, very quiet at night, good quality utensils etc and the wifi worked well. We were very happy and a week wasn't enough!

Just had a great week at the cottage in Banavie, Fort William.
The cottage, which is very tastefully furnished, has everything you would need and is in a great location at the start of the Caledonian Canal with great views of Ben Nevis behind.
We enjoyed bike rides and running along the canal, sea kayaking off Arisaig and visits to Isle of Skye and Loch Ness. Also had lovely meal at the Old Pines, Spean Bridge.

“Location, location”
Reviewed 8 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

We travelled from Yorkshire for a one week stay here. Directions to the property were very easy to follow. The cottage is in a fabulous location at the side of Neptunes staircase on the Caledonian canal. Cottage is very well equipped and comfortable, we slept well there the whole week. Lots of easy walks from the cottage and pubs/restaurants less than five minutes walk away. The Jacobite steam train runs right by twice a day, so lots of photograph opportunities and the train ride from Ft William to Mallaig is not to be missed. Don't hesitate in recommending this cottage.
