Had a 3 night stay here as part of our anniversary trip. The property is spot on. Finished to a high standard with quality kit throughout, including kitchen and bathroom. Fab views onto the gardens and bird feeders which are in constant use by a variety of birds. It was a bonus to be greeted by a deer in the garden as we first pulled into the drive. Saw the resident red squirrel on the last morning along with the woodpecker. Brilliant. Apparently the only one we missed out on was the pine martin. Oh well we'll have to go back for that one. The owner, Kate F, seemed lovely and happily showed us everything on arrival and provided some local info. Great location for exploring the area and great walks along the canal. Very easy recommendation for this lovely Cottage and owner. Oh and the new 1 bed Annexe looks great too as Kate let us see this before we left.
We had an excellent 4 nights at Acorn Cottage. A lovely property situated just outside of Fort William with great views of the countryside (inc. Ben Nevis) and also the local wildlife.
Acotn cottage supplied us with everything we needed to base ourselves over half term.
Lovely and warm after a day out in the snow where we tucked into some very tasty lemon drizzle, complements of the owners.
We visited a few local places inc. Neptunes Staircase and the Three Wise Monkeys for some rock climbing (still didn't wear the children out...).
Thank you for a great stay. ☺
It had been 10 years since we last had a holiday in Scotland we needed to remind ourselves how beautiful Scotland truly is. We had stayed in Fort William before so we wanted somewhere local, we found Acorn Cottage and what a find. Kate welcomed us after a very long journey with a smile and showed us our cottage the photo's don't do it justice. Her famous lemon drizzle cake was divine so much so I ordered one to take home. We went to Nevis Range, Glenfinnan, Skye, The West Highland Museum which was free to get in and well worth a visit. Kate assured us if we needed anything we could just ask her. Went to the Moorings Hotel and had dinner in their Bistro wonderful food and the bonus was buy one Main and get the cheapest free. We had a amazing time and a red squirrel greeted us on our first morning as we looked out of the cottage window with its awesome view. Thank you Kate so much we will not be leaving it another ten years hope to see you soon. Sue & Mike Wotton Andy & Carole Rogers.
We are just back from a week's stay at Acorn Cottage ..and what a fantastic week we have had. It's rare to find somewhere with no faults and nothing you dont like.. but this beautiful cottage is the exception. Kate was very welcoming and friendly (even though we were nearly three hours later than we had said we would be!) and of course there was her home made lemon drizzle cake waiting for us to go with that all important first cup of tea! Acorn cottage itself is outstanding. Everything was spotless and all seats and beds were very comfortable. Kate had made up both bedrooms into doubles for us (you can have twin beds if preferred) and all linen, towels etc were ready. There is Freesat TV if that's your thing , a DVD player . books, games etc but to be honest there is so much going on at the birdtable we spent a lot of the time watching that from the lounge and bedroom windows! You are about 5 or 6 miles from Fort William itself which means its handy but you are in a very quiet location - a car is essential. We ate in most evenings but "The Moorings" hotel is only 2 miles away and the food is excellent & reasonably priced. Suffice to say we did not want to come home, such a shame its an 8 hour drive for us to get there or we would be going back ASAP - as it is we are hoping to return sooner rather than later . Thank you Kate - we had a fantastic holiday and would recommend Acorn Cottage to anyone looking for high quality self catering accommodation in the Fort William area.
We stayed here for 4 nights last week and I wish we had been staying longer. Kate is very welcoming and left us a lovely drizzle cake as a welcoming present. The house is perfect for a few days away with everything you need. The views are amazing from upstairs. It is a bit out of Fort William but if you have a car it's no problem. We took a taxi into Fort William one night to have a meal and it was under £15, we used Speeders or Speedy Cabs, very nice driver. We went to Glencoe, stunning and did the steam train to Mallaig, lovely day out. We also went up the cable car on the Nevis range and explored the area. Would highly recommend this property if you want a quiet, relaxing time.
We have recently had a fantastic week away in Acorn cottage which is surrounded by some stunning scenery. The pictures do not do justice to the quality of Acorn cottage. Kate could not have been more friendly or helpful during our stay. We will be booking to go back in the near future.
We stayed for a week and had a great time. The cottage is in a good location and convenient for all the places we wanted to visit in the Highlands.
It was such a welcoming place to return to after a days adventures! The accommodation provided everything that we needed and was so clean and beautifully decorated.
We have two young boys who also enjoyed the cottage and all the area has to offer from steam train journeys, Nessie hunting on Loch Ness, cable cars to Ben Nevis and visiting the Isle of Skye.
Kate was a very helpful host who was there if we needed anything. We would definitely recommend Acorn Cottage :)
