We have just had a lovely holiday in this beautiful cottage . Kate was very welcoming and helpful . Everything in the cottage was perfect . We had terrible weather , but returning to this lovely cottage every evening was a big bonus . Beautiful location too . The garden around the cottage is very well maintained . Kate must work hard to keep it so nice . We would recommend this cottage to anyone . Even though the weather was so bad , we will return next year without doubt !
There is so much to like about this property, modern, spacious, panoramic window, lovely garden with bird feeders in full view and a very welcoming host. The location is perfect for touring yet so peaceful and homely should you choose to stay in and just chill out, this is one place we will return to.
Great location close to Fort William but with rural peace and quiet. A great base for exploring the wider area. Well-equipped with lovely forest views from the spacious living room. Worked really well for our family of four.
Acorn Cottage is a stylish, comfortable and spotless place to say with beautiful views through the trees to Ben Nevis from the first floor lounge. The cottage is well-equipped and spacious so we were very comfortable staying inside on the rainiest days! From the cottage it was a short drive to Fort Williams and Glen Nevis, but there are lots great places to visit slightly further afield such as Arisaig and Mallaig. Kate and Malcolm were welcoming and informative hosts and their attention to detail in the cottage and the stunning garden were much appreciated (especially the best ever lemon drizzle cake!).
We couldn’t fault Acorn Cottage with it’s modern and homely interior and scenic views form lovely large windows looking over towards the Caledonian canal and Ben Nevis mountain range.
We are a family of four and have just returned from one weeks stay at Acorn Cottage and we all feel that we had a very enjoyable, thoroughly relaxing holiday. The setting is beautiful with views over towards the Nevis mountain range. We were very lucky with the weather with just the one wet day and the odd shower. Upon arrival we were given a very warm welcome by Kate who showed us round the cottage and also provided secure storage for our bikes. The cottage itself is very well equipped and extremely comfortable and clean - the added bonus of a delicious lemon drizzle cake was enjoyed thoroughly by us all - yum! The cottage was easy to find and close-by was access of the Caledonian Canal - where we watched the boats going up and down the locks at Neptune's Staircase and great cycling up and down the towpath which was usually very quiet. The location close to Banavie is within handy reach of supermarkets such as M&S, Morrisons, Home Bargains and Aldi. We took several day trips up to Mallaig stopping off at Glenfinnian, up to Inverness with a stopover at Fort Augustus and over to Oban to enjoy the delicious ice cream. All in all we were awestruck by the spectacular scenery of the Highlands and could not recommend Acorn Cottage and the area highly enough - we can't wait to return!
We spent a week in this delightful cottage enjoying the many lovely walks in the area and having this very comfortable base to return to afterwards. Fort William is in a great position to visit the road to the isles, stopping at Glenfinnan viaduct to see the steam train and enjoying fish and chips in Mallaig. We also enjoyed Glen Coe village and the drive through the beautiful Pass of Glen Coe. While my husband ventured up Ben Nevis on a glorious sunny day, I took the easy route and drove to the Nevis range gondola for more scenic views and was also amazed at the BMX bikers on the world BMX track and paragliders taking off from the summit. We can highly recommend this area and the cottage. Thank you to Kate too for her delicious homemade drizzle cake - a lovely surprise when we arrived.
